I haven't had the hard drive for very long, so I can not say much, but the installation was a bit tricky, but I got it done with a little bit of help. Otherwise, great product.

“Good value for money”

Rajeevan | With a storage capacity of: 8TB
  • Pros:
    Quality
  • Pros:
Silent compared to a Seagate HDD
  • Con:
Lower rpm compared to Seagate for the same price and size
  • Con:
    Packaging is not very safe
Fits nicely into my Synology NAS. More silent than the Seagate, that could be because of the lower RPM. Western digital hard drives are highly recommend by many reviews and users. But for the same price, you could also get a Seagate 8tb with a higher rpm and cache. The hard drives are shipped in a small bubble wrap package, so it could easily be damaged. Always test the HDD immediately after arriving.

“Excellent service.”

R N | With a storage capacity of: 3TB
  • Pros:
    quiet
  • Pros:
    cool
  • Pros:
    service
  • Con:
    a little cheaper elsewhere
After my 7 year old samsung drives with 24/7 spins show some bad sectors I am slowly converting to wd red drives which have been running for a very long time. Work fine and according to the internet also very reliable. If these wd hdds last 6 to 7 years, I am very satisfied. Once again bought a NAS918 + and for the price you'll quickly end up at Coolblue. The hdds are a few euros cheaper at the competitor but this is amply compensated by the fast delivery (in stock) and the good service. Yes, I am a Coolblue fan :-)

“Sturdy and reliable hard drive”

Cock Moret | With a storage capacity of: 3TB
  • Pros:
    Solidity
  • Pros:
    Plug and Play in NAS
Had two disks in the Synology NAS since the end of 2014. By a mistake on my part, storage volume of one disk in the NAS was damaged. I first installed the new WD 3TB. Then put the old disk with the "damaged volume" in a different location in the NAS and it is fully operational again. This creates extra storage space.

“Great drive for a reasonable price”

Hubertus Straver | With a storage capacity of: 2TB
  • Pros:
Reliable brand with low failure rates
  • Con:
I purchased these hard drives 3 years ago. 1 of the 2 started reporting bad sectors within a year. Started out with just a few of them, but became more and more.
I bought the same one 3 years ago. 1 of the 2 soon started reporting Bad sectors. In the beginning there were only a few, but this became more and more. After 3 years I was on the bad drive in more than 200 bath sectors, which still functioned well. Still decided to replace it for the same disk. The "bad disk" is now used as a backup for the NAS. The other 3-year old disk still works fine and without problems.

“Reliable”

Cock Moret | With a storage capacity of: 3TB
  • Pros:
    Solidity
  • Pros:
    Plug and play in NAS
I have been running two of the same drives in a Synology NAS since the end of 2014 without any problems. Because of my own error, the storage volume of the NAS was corrupted. New WD drive in it, a few mouse clicks and it works. Then use the old disk of the "damaged" storage volume "in a different location in the NAS. This also works without any damage. Now have a nice memory expansion in the NAS. Three same disks. Very reliable disks.
