"Great for home use"

Alex | 17 June 2019

  • Pros:
    good speed and range
  • Pros:
    functional
  • Pros:
    gigabit ethernet
  • Con:
    very bright LEDs
  • Con:
    so-so user interface (a bit early-2000s vibe)

I have replaced my ISP's router (circa 2014) with r7000p and got a great speed boost thanks to (mainly) 802.11ac. We use a lot of devices at home: phones, laptops, tablets - around 8-10 simultaneously connected to WiFi, and so far there are no issues. We can easily stream couple HD videos at the same time, latency has also improved (according to speedtest) from 40-50ms to 10-20ms.

I have switched both 2.4 and 5Ghz WiFi to use channels not used by my neighbours, because this router does not seem to favour the least used channel.
