Description

The Sage Barista Express Black Sesame has a built-in coffee grinder and a stainless steel milk pitcher with thermometer. The milk pitcher measures the temperature of the milk and indicates when the milk has reached the ideal temperature with a green light. You'll always get the perfect foam. This piston machine has room for 250 grams of your favorite coffee beans. The built-in cone grinder grinds the beans and drops the ground beans in the portafilter. You'll be able to make a cup of coffee right away. You can choose from 18 grind settings and set the cup size yourself. The electronic temperature stabilization ensures the best coffee aroma. If you want, you can use the hot water function to pre-heat your cups.

High-end build quality

This piston machine was made with sustainable components. With the heavy stainless steel casing and the non-slip feet, the coffee machine will stay firmly put on your countertop while you're making coffee.

Note: it takes time and patience to learn how to prepare a tasty coffee with a piston machine. This isn't nearly as easy as with a fully automatic espresso machine.

Brilliant machine at a reasonable price point

Makes very good coffee at the price point, I've had other more expensive machines that did not extract the flavour/oils of the coffee beans anywhere near as good as this!

    • Pros:
Fresh ground coffee and espresso in same machine
    • Pros:
      handy water tank
    • Pros:
      super cool design
    • Con:
Have to use good coffee beans
    • Con:
noise for steam is a bit too loud

Its been 2 weeks since we got the machine, setup and initial cleaning was easy - remember to read and follow the instruction manual.
As suggested by others, we got a lot of cheap coffee beans and started to mess around with the machine to learn the basics, but what I experienced is that the machine doesn't give a good pressure or good tasting coffee if the beans aren't good ( duh ! ) , so please buy some good coffee beans ( roasted just 1 or 2 weeks before ) from your local cafe and try it out.
The default settings of 8 grind size and dose and water are good enough initially - you will get the optimal pressure.
Later try it out with different settings and of grind size and dose and water amount based on your taste.

Also see a lot of youtube videos where people have given solutions to every problem you may face with the machine and how to get that perfect tasting espresso.

So far haven't succeeded in getting a good capuccino milk foam, but trial is still going on.

In summary - the best allround espresso machine out there. Go for it.

    A love at first sight
    • Pros:
      Powerful steamer
    • Pros:
Great coffee (if you know how to do it), pressure gauge helps a lot
    • Pros:
Very attractive design (friends are amazed)
    • Pros:
Heavy horn and overall quality seems very high
    • Pros:
A cup with thermometer is in set
    • Con:
Instruction could be better / more informative
    • Con:
You may need to buy a water filter and it is costly (only one is in the set)
    • Con:
Water container is somewhat small (need to refill often)

I am not a professional barista, but I like coffee/espresso/cappuccino Italian style (these guys know how to do it best). I had a similar semi-automatic cheaper coffee machine before and I knew what to expect. This product is great, but the price is too. Just keep in mind that you should like the process and experiments for coffee, it is not for those people who like to press the button and forget. But if you stubborn enough to build a skill you can get much better results than on automatic coffee machine.
