Choose bathroom speaker

Before you choose a speaker for the bathroom, it's good to know which properties it needs. Ask yourself the following questions to find out which speaker suits your bathroom.

  • Which IP certification do you need?
  • Do you want to control the speaker with your voice?
  • Do you need a speaker with a battery?

Which IP certification do you need?

The speaker needs to be able to withstand water. The water resistance is indicated by an IP certification. This is done with numbers from 0 to 9. With a 0, the speaker can't withstand water. With a 9, the speaker can handle water the best. If the speaker is on the sink next to the shower, a 3 is good enough. If you place it on the edge of the bath while you're in it, we recommend a certification of at least 4.

Want to control the speaker with your voice?

If you choose a speaker with a built-in microphone, you can control the speaker with your voice. That's useful when you're in the bath and the speaker isn't within reach. You do need a voice assistant for this, such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri. You have to connect the speaker to your WiFi network for this.

Do you need a speaker with a battery?

If you don't want to use power in a damp bathroom, choose a speaker with a battery. That way, you can be sure you're using the speaker safely. You can also place the speaker wherever you want. You can use a wired speaker if the socket is far away enough from the shower or bath.
