Number of speakers and power
QN95A: 6 speakers with 70W power
Is sound important to you when you watch TV? The QN95A is suitable for you. This television has 6 speakers with 70W power. The speakers are spread out over the back of the TV and 2 are pointed upwards. These 2 ensure a spatial audio, because their sound reaches your viewing position from above. The 2 subwoofers provide a low bass, so the music from a scary movie sounds even scarier.
QN85A: 4 speakers with 60W power
The QN85A has a total of 4 speakers, which is 2 speakers less than the QN95A. This makes the sound intense. The 4 speakers are located on the back of the TV, and 2 of those point upwards. You can experience the same spatial audio as with the QN95A thanks to this, because the sound reaches your viewing position from above. In addition, the QN85A has 2 subwoofers that ensure an audible bass.
Peak brightness
QN95A: 2000 nits peak brightness
The peak brightness indicates the maximum brightness of the colors of a television. With the QN95A, this is 2000 nits. This is 500 more than the 1500 nits of the QN85A. That's why the colors of the QN95A are brighter and pop on the screen more. A little bit of extra brightness also comes in handy when you often watch television with many lights on or with bright daylight. This ensures a stronger color contrast.
QN85A: 1500 nits peak brightness
The QN85A has a 1500-nit peak brightness. Thanks to this, images are less bright than with the QN95A. A lower brightness is fine if you often watch movies with the lights turned off or with the curtains closed. In such a setting, the light of the TV stands out more and the brightness doesn't have to be that high. Do you like bright, intense colors? Choose a TV with a high brightness.
One Connect Box
QN95A: One Connect Box included
The One Connect Box is an accessory that's included with some Samsung televisions. It's included with the QN95A as well. You can connect all separate cables from your TV to this box. For example, the cable of your console, the HDMI cable of the soundbar, and the network cable that provides your TV with internet. What about the cable of the One Connect Box itself? They also came up with a nice solution for that, which is the Invisible Cable. This is a transparent cable that goes from your TV to the One Connect Box. Thanks to this, cables aren't visible anymore and it looks tidy and sleek.
QN85A: no One Connect Box
The QN85A doesn't include a One Connect Box. The television has different connectors, such as an antenna, network, USB, and digital optical connector. You can also find 4 HDMI connectors on the television. Those are quite a lot of cables. It might look somewhat messy when they're all hanging around your television. If you don't mind this or you don't use many cables, choose a TV without One Connect Box.
Conclusion
The differences between the QN85A and the QN95A aren't large, but they're there. Do you like bright, intense colors and a rich sound while your watch TV? The QN95A is a suitable option, because this TV has a higher peak brightness and more speakers than the QN85A. The QN85A is more suitable for you if you often watch TV in the dark, because you don't need the extra brightness in that case.
