According to our compact camera expert
The Canon PowerShot SX60 HS is the successor to the SX50 HS. The zoom range of the camera has been further extended to 65x optical zoom, so you can get good, detailed pictures at a great distance. Just like the SX50, the SX60 has an electronic viewfinder and a tiltable LCD screen to let you easily determine your frame and photograph from difficult angles. The addition of WiFi and NFC lets you easily share your photos and videos with your friends.
Note: A memory card isn't included.

I come from an SLR camera with different lenses, and I was looking for a similar device in terms of features, but with a fixed lens. After reading reviews for a long time, I chose this PowerShot SX60 HS.
As usual from Coolblue, the postpode was with my package the next day. Everything neatly unpacked and started to do the main settings, connect to network and smartphone and shoot some pictures.
A small drawback is that the manual is no longer with the device. It comes with a very concise booklet on how to insert the battery and memory card, but you have to download the advanced manual from Canon's site. I don't know how that is with the competition, but I see it happening more often these days. No stumbling block for me, manual in PDF taken from the site and got to know everything with the tablet next to it.
The device has a lot of functions, one of the nicest things I encountered is facial recognition. You take a few pictures of your kids, you name them all on the device, and as soon as the device sees the familiar faces, the name will appear on your screen and you can set it to automatically keep the focus on that, and detect that they are not just blinking their eyes while you are shooting a photo.
The list of features is really endless, from basic stuff like black and white or sepia photos, to more advanced stuff like fisheye and the like.
Wifi/NFC work flawlessly. Just tap my smartphone against the device and I can quickly transfer a selection of photos to show them or throw them online, you don't even have to be on WiFi, the device can create its own hotspot to share everything.
The device is a bit on the heavy side for someone who comes from a smaller compact model, but for me it is the ideal replacement for an SLR, which was even heavier and which always had to be accompanied by a large backpack.
I am very satisfied and do not regret my purchase! It is slightly more expensive than the competing models, but well worth the price.

What a relaxed feeling to take pictures with this device. First had a Nikon D3100 SLR camera + a Tamron lens of about  € 500 Let me just say that this one can't even come close to canon. With the Nikon, it's measuring and knowing. With the Canon, pushing the button is good aiming and shooting. Result? great photos. Evening photos great. By the way, for the Pro there is also the option to manually adjust the settings. Take a look at the zoom option. Don't forget it's not nice weather to photograph now

A great camera. Compact, but with the look and functions of a real SLR. Couldn't really get used to compact cameras, but with this Canon the homesickness is completely gone.
