My experience with Coyote is rather positive. It is a useful tool while driving. After testing the iOS app, I decided to buy a Coyote device. This device appealed to me because of the integrated camera, which will of course serve as a dashcam.
Unfortunately, this product is very disappointing. As I read on the internet, my Coyote had a lot of problems with falling out, especially in the beginning. On the first day I had to set up the device three times, it crashed several times and it took a long time for the device to receive a GPS signal.
In addition, the dashcam does not seem to work like a real dashcam. Images are only saved when you really ask for them in some settings menu. Otherwise you will lose the images when you shut down the Coyote. The images are of such low quality that it is not even possible to recognize proper number plates on recordings. The usefulness of a dashcam remains unknown to me.
The battery runs out quickly and the device complains about heat problems. The device is on the dashboard under the windshield, but Coyote could take this into account.
The core functionality of the Coyote (indicating obstacles and speed) does work. Still, I sometimes get scared that my Coyote reports delays on its own, so maybe something is not quite right.
Currently the Coyote is running stable, but I'm going to send it back anyway. It is wiser to take the cheaper version of Coyote since the dashcam has no use with this Coyote. People who are in doubt: buy a regular Coyote or use the app for the smartphone. A subscription for use on the smartphone is much cheaper and the app works even better than Coyote on a device.
