According to our radio expert
The Lenco Concerto DIR-2000 is an all-encompassing internet radio. Wirelessly stream music from your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. Don't have much of a music collection yourself? Listen to one of thousands of internet radio stations via WiFi instead. Spotify also grants access to millions of songs. The radio will directly connect to the Spotify servers, thanks to Spotify Connect. Advantages include improving the longevity of your smartphone's battery and not having to contend with the limited effective range of Bluetooth. Taking a call whilst the music is playing won't be a problem either. Switch to radio mode to listen to regular radio stations. You'll be able to enjoy noise-free sound and to search for stations by name instead of by frequency, thanks to the digital DAB+ tuner.

After my Logitech Boombox gave up the ghost after years of loyal service, I had to look for a comparable device for music in my kitchen. Quite a challenge to find an alternative to the superior sound quality of the Logitec on a comparable budget! After going through many reviews, I came across the Lenco Concerto DIR-2000.. As always quickly delivered by Coolblue. The device comes out of the box as a nicely designed player. Feels sturdy and pleasantly heavy and the finish is of a high level! The color screen, on which you can find all settings and music info of the currently playing station, is beautifully clear. The click wheel feels robust and works well. The included remote is better than the Logitech I had and responds quickly. The clear user manual leaves little to the imagination and after setting my WiFi password I was able to run my own playlists directly via Spotify Connect! I was also able to find my favorite internet radio stations quickly, although saving the stations was a bit of a puzzle, because you first have to create a kind of account online. But that was also quickly fixed. DAB channels also work fine. The Lenco itself scans for available stations and provides a list of all DAB stations that are available within a minute. What I understand from the various reviews is that the DAB experience is very dependent on the quality of the local DAB network, which is often experienced as inadequate and susceptible to interference. Here in Groningen, the reception of Arrow Classic Rock, for example, was perfect! FM stations are always of moderate quality here in the north of the Netherlands.. NPO2 comes in with some noise, but is easy to listen to.. Other stations, especially the more local ones, are crystal clear.. All in all, a variety of options for playing music. I have not yet tried connecting an external player via the aux.., but it is a breeze with the supplied cable that goes straight into the back of your headphone output of, for example, your smartphone..
In terms of sound, the Lenco comes very close to the old Logitech.. I do miss the punch in the bass. Voices sound natural and there is a lot of detail in the mids and highs. There is an equalizer in the Settings with several presets, but I haven't found how I can make my own settings yet.. Currently looking for the most pleasant for me installed eq. institution.. Nothing to complain about volume, by the way. The Lenco makes it turn harder or softer per tap via the click wheel (or via the remote control) from 1 - to somewhere beyond 20, which is far beyond disco volume in my kitchen and can therefore be pleasantly rippling (here it is often at 4 where there is also a conversation to be had), to crackling loud, whereby I have not yet observed distortion. But to be honest I haven't tried it at high volume for long either. All in all a nice player with an abundance of possibilities, easy operation and a very pleasant sound. Recommended! Been using it for a week now.

FM often gives a bad connection at my location in the sense that I had already bought myself a 2nd FM radio with the same bad result. Now Internet radio gives almost perfection. And the Lenco device is wonderful in terms of sound.
