According to our stand mixer expert
With 1,500 watts, the Bosch OptiMUM MUM9Y35S12 is a very powerful stand mixer that even mixes heavy bread dough. It has a large bowl with a 5.5-liter capacity, allowing you to easily make 3.5 kilograms of cake batter or 1.5 kilograms of yeast dough. The special dough sensor ensures the dough is kneaded at the same, constant speed, for the best result. A stirring whisk, beating whisk, kneading hook, and a glass pitcher are included. These have color codes that correspond to the stand mixer, so you know exactly where to connect them. There are also many optional accessories such as a pasta set or food processor available.

The Bosch Optimum is a very good mixer, but also a great blender! You will notice that when you open the box. The food processor weighs 11 kg, so it's best on the heavy side. That doesn't matter to me, because I leave it on the counter. The design is also beautiful and that makes it a jewel on the counter! Usage With my previous mixer, I often didn't manage to mix all the ingredients properly. There was always some leftover at the bottom of the mixing bowl. With the special stirring whisk (which has a kind of rubber strip on it) everything, but really everything is mixed together. My first bake was a banana bread. Quite a lot of ingredients, but the dough remained nice and airy and everything was well mixed together. The Bosch optimum also has a splash cover. That's super handy for when you need to add flour. You can do that through the filling opening! While the mixer is running, you can add ingredients without blowing over the bowl. My second bake was pizza dough. For this I had to put the dough hook on it. That was a bit of a puzzle in the beginning. I didn't dare to pull or push too hard, but Youtube brought a solution! Delicious dough, which in the end turned out to be a delicious pizza. Our kids really enjoyed being able to put their own stuff on the pizza base! And my dish that I made afterwards was spinach soup. I used the included blender for this! How handy is that! Make sure the lid is on properly! The color coding is very useful. The blender has a red bottom, so you have to connect it to the red connection point of the Optimum. That really is a piece of cake! And just blend! In the meantime I have made many smoothies further and I still enjoy making them every day! But as mentioned, you can also blend soups in it! The last and least difficult thing I did with the Optimum is whipping cream! After you turn on the machine, a child can do the laundry, it's that simple! The machine has a 3D planetary mixing system and with the beater, you can easily whip cream (even a little bit)! Keep an eye on it, because at high speed, you see less well how long you still have to knock. Other accessories Various accessories are available for the Optimum. I haven't missed them yet. That could of course be because I already have another appliance for that or have a kitchen helper for it. I would like to find out in the coming period, because those are nice presents for Christmas or December 5th! In summary: this is a wonderful machine for people who have high demands on the performance of the machine! An absolute winner!

A kitchen robot? Talked about it a lot, but never took the step to buy it. Would we use it? The answer: "YES!". Let the machine do its job and in the meantime you can do something else yourself. Easy right?
Short version: First impression - This machine is a rock solid solid block that you never get worn out. The first few weeks it's a matter of getting some skill in handling the attributes that need some force to switch them. I am pleasantly surprised by how this kitchen robot works. The machine itself does not do more than mix/knead, but with what ease it does this! Mixing batter, kneading dough, blending a smoothie ... he seems to have no problem with it and the results are impressive. The stainless steel bowl should be provided with a handle. It gets a bit clumsy when spreading out due to its large size. The stainless steel version of the bowl also does not go in the microwave. But there is a plastic version available. There seems to be a downside to maintenance. If the arm is open, dirt can get in. I haven't had to clean it yet, but it doesn't seem easy to me. It is smart from Bosch to provide all kinds of attachments for this: blender, pasta maker, meat grinder,... This is a topper and therefore a keeper!
Extended version: The machine Sturdy at the price, but you also get something in return. This kitchen robot is quite heavy, but that does not have to be a disadvantage. This makes the machine very stable. The housing looks like one solid block and gives you a feeling of: "I will never wear this one!". When I wanted to move the machine, on the counter, this was not so easy. This is thanks to some suction cups that also benefit the stability. 8 speeds...smoothly switch between speeds and all without making a fuss. The fact that you can hide the cable is handy. It is a bit of fiddling to get the cable into the machine. Also, almost all parts are resistant to put in the dishwasher.
The accessories A large sturdy stainless steel bowl shows off at the front. There is so much room for this: a 3 kg dough batter was mixed without any problems. But after mixing the next step: how do I get this in the baking tins. There are no handles provided. Pouring into the mold is still going on. But if you want to spread out the last bits, it gets a bit clumsy. The mixer is connected to the machine at an angle. To get it off you have to use quite a bit of force and you are afraid to break the machine. It will improve with frequent use. A disadvantage is that the bowl cannot be put in the microwave. But apparently there is also a plastic version available for the bowl.
The knocker: I can be brief about this. This one does its job. The cake and pancake batter were well processed. What's so nice about it is that you can quietly clean up the kitchen to the tones of the kitchen robot. The kids also love to peer through the splash cover at the hypnotic movements. Mixing it yourself with the whisk, together with children, is fun, but let's be honest: your kitchen doesn't look like it.
The kneading hook: Baking bread for the first time. Because it was the first time to use a ready-made bread mix. Ingredients in the bowl, add water. Slowly bring the machine to speed 3 and let it knead for 10 minutes. Then you see that the machine is brushing every cm of the bowl to process the dough. Although the dough was very sticky (when removed from the kneading hook), the kneading hook ensures that nothing sticks to the bowl. Still impressed. Oh yes ... the bread was successful! ;-)
I haven't been able to try the mixer yet.
The blender: Here again: what a weight due to the thick thermo glass! The whole looks and feels very solid again. Time for a smoothie ... the blender chock full of all kinds of fruit, ice cubes. Then let it mix from position 1 to 7. The machine seamlessly switches to the next position. Be careful when you move the machine from position 0 to position M with the lid on! If your lid is not on it, you are guaranteed cleaning fun in the kitchen! Luckily I had the lid on it. ;-) I have to say that compared to our stand-alone blender, this Bosch mixes really well. Virtually no pieces / chunks in the juice. Cleaning the blender does take some time. You have to completely disassemble the blender. Some juice/pulp remains between the jug and the sealing ring.
Final conclusion: I am pleasantly surprised by the operation of this rock-solid kitchen robot. The machine itself does not do more than mix/knead, but with what ease it does this! It is smart from Bosch to provide all kinds of attachments for this: blender, pasta maker, meat grinder,... This is a topper and therefore a keeper!
