I've had the gear s3 Frontier for a week now and there are no real downsides except for a few small things. For example, the always on display is a nice addition, but unnecessary for me. The always on display will appear on the screen after a few seconds. If you wear a pullover or shirt with long sleeves, the aod makes no sense. You don't see the screen anyway. It just pulls your battery down. What is also disadvantageous about the AOD is that it is reasonably lit at night. I sleep with the watch because of a sleep analysis that is running and I still regularly wake up to the screen of the gear s3.
For the rest I have little to say. Very accurate pedometer, speedometer, heart rate monitor,....
Battery life lasted 40 hours with all possible settings active. Wifi, bluetooth, always on display, nfc, automatic heart rate monitor, sleep analysis at night, S Health activity,... After a few days I turned it off which seems unnecessary to me to see battery life for what I need it. Wifi off, nfc off, aod off. Battery life of almost 4 days!! WiFi on the gear s3 is unnecessary in my opinion. Wi-Fi works when your gear cannot connect via Bluetooth on your smartphone. I don't see the point in this. If you have WiFi at home, isn't your smartphone usually nearby? Aod off for the above reason. Nfc off because it is not yet possible to work with Samsung pay.
The battery life also depends a lot on the watchface you use. The more info the watchface shows and the lighter the color of the watchface, the faster the battery goes down.
The activities via the S Health app are also very accurate! Speed, distance,... Everything is almost identical to runkeeper on the smartphone.
Don't be put off by the many articles on the internet about the size of the smartwatch. This fits very well. I'm used to wearing big watches. The gear s3 is smaller than my festina I wore before. So it could have been a little bigger for me.
In any case, I am very satisfied! I haven't regretted it for a second.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

I've owned the watch for about 10 weeks now. The battery life is not that bad: 4 days if you only use it as a watch, 2 full days if you turn on all functionalities but the screen only on when you need it, 1 full day if you turn on all functionalities and the screen too. I mainly use the watch as a sports watch and I am very satisfied with the possibilities and the extra incentive that the watch gives you to move more. The only SERIOUS downside, and after some research on the internet I appear to be not alone, is the GPS functionality with s health. I had also bought the watch to be able to leave my mobile phone at home while cycling/walking and to record everything stand-alone with the watch and then transfer my data via sync between s health and strava. But this doesn't work. Have contacted samsung but the solutions they offer are none. I then went looking for solutions on various forums and only then it became clear to me how big the problem is. So you have been warned. It's a nice watch, but if you want to use it to register outdoor activities GPS-wise, you'd better buy another watch, because this watch really doesn't work while it is advertised that way.

Overall a very nice gadget! An attention grabber. Smooth interaction with my samsung s7 edge. Calling and texting are surprisingly convenient. You can send back directly via social media. When driving or exercising, the smartphone can stay comfortably in the pocket. Too bad about the English input if you're going to chat via voice. The price could perhaps be 50/100 euros less. I had hoped for a little more support in apps from bigger names. Such as checking the banks for your balance or Facebook, Spotify, you name it. I also had a large scratch on the bezel in a light collision. And unfortunately you can't set your own music as an alarm clock or ringtone.
