According to our compact camera expert
The Fujifilm X100F is a compact camera with a classic design and the functions of a system camera. Manually set up the camera the way you want, using the setting wheels at the top of the device. This allows you to adjust the shutter speed and the light sensitivity. Assign your own setting to the front dial, such as your ISO. The camera has an optical and electronic viewfinder. In addition, the viewfinder has a rangefinder. This is a small screen on the viewfinder which shows you the viewing angle, exposure, white balance, and sharpness. The joy stick at the back of the camera allows you to easily move the focus point. Thanks to the 23-mm light-sensitive lens, you can record with little depth of field.

My girlfriend has been interested in photography for several years and owns a Canon entry-level SLR camera. In recent months I have also started to delve into photography, in order to be able to capture my memories on the sensitive plate. However, we realized that we didn't use our SLR very often because it's so big to carry around. Since I am the techie among the two of us, I have further explored the camera world for a more compact solution. Because what good is a great camera that you never take with you? The best camera, in our opinion, is simply the one you have with you.
After some research I came across FujiFilm, whose philosophy I can appreciate. In the wonderful world of cameras you can stare blindly at specifications, features that you will or will not use, comparison tests, reviews, etcetera. However, photography is not an exact science. As is sometimes said on the many Fuji fan communities: a camera should be an extension of your creative self, give you inspiration and the desire to go out. That's why I think it's important that a camera feels intuitive. This is certainly the case with the X100F. To give an example: you will not find a mode dial on this camera. No portrait, landscape, aperture priority, etc. modes. It's just kept simple with the three most essential dials to expose your sensor: aperture, shutter speed, sensitivity. If you want to set them yourself, turn the (very solidly finished) ring to the setting you want. Otherwise, just leave the ring in question on A (automatic).
You will also notice this same approach in many other features of this camera. The X100F has a fixed 23mm f/2 lens (35mm in 35mm format) that is actually quite versatile, despite being a fixed focal length. Our Canon camera had a zoom lens, which is very useful to determine your composition neatly. With a lens with a fixed focal length you will have to rely on your legs to zoom, but this turns out to be less of a limitation than expected. It invites you to walk around to look at your object from different perspectives. I find that we get better photos because of this, as we tend to experiment a bit with our composition. In our opinion, the lens is really fantastic in terms of quality. A lens with a fixed focal point is therefore almost always optically better than a zoom lens, and you notice that.
The image sensor produces beautiful JPGs with the well-known "Fuji colors" and film simulations (Acros!). It is 24MP in size, which is more than enough to produce very sharp images. You also have enough resolution to adjust your composition if necessary. The built-in digital teleconverter makes use of this, a new function for this fourth version of the X100. This provides a 50mm and 70mm (35mm format) perspective, and therefore also gives you the option to "zoom in" a bit. The camera only uses a smaller part of the sensor (crop) here. The camera scales the photos back to 24MP, but there is a small difference in quality. However, there are two small conversion lenses available, namely the TCL-X100 ii (50mm) and the WCL-X100 ii (28mm) that still give you a high-quality way to take a different perspective on your X100. (Tip to Coolblue: high time to offer these too!)
Before our purchase, we still had some doubts: should we go for this, or a (Fujifilm?) system camera with interchangeable lenses. However, the digital teleconverter and the conversion lenses ensure that we can still obtain a different perspective if we want to consciously take pictures, while the camera itself remains much more compact than a system camera. And that was its big advantage for us. For now, we have anything but regrets!

Only recently started but first impressions are very positive. I mainly use it for street photography and it is very suitable for that.

I borrowed the camera from a friend for a while and now decided to buy it myself. The quality of the photos is superb despite it being a more compact camera. Ideal camera to always carry in your bag. You often don't take a large SLR with you anyway. Very happy with it!
