According to our bike navigation expert
With the streamlined Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT, sports cyclists can stay informed of their ride data without losing speed. Thanks to the GPS sensor, the compact bike navigation also shows your route. In addition, the ELEMNT BOLT is easy to connect with a heart rate monitor or cadence sensor via Bluetooth and ANT+. During your journey, all data is saved and automatically sent to the accompanying app. With the help of the LED lights you'll immediately see how your performance is doing. You can also see your incoming messages on the screen while cycling. Moreover, through the Live Tracking system you can see where your bike buds are cycling. The ELEMNT BOLT is easy to connect with cycling platforms such as Strava.

I've had the Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt for a few weeks now, on the advice of a cycling buddy who has the larger version and after reading many reviews on the internet.
I deliberately chose the Bolt, because I don't want to cycle with some sort of iPad on my handlebars. In addition, it is cheaper than its bigger brother, while it has the same functionalities.
Mounting the Wahoo with the mount was a breeze. That holder also seems to be of high aerodynamic quality, but at my level that does not matter much.
I've done a few rides with the Wahoo and I'm very pleased with it. It finds satellite connections very quickly and is almost immediately ready for use. It is not necessary to use the Wahoo as a navigation system. Nor is it necessary to bring a smartphone. He works on his own.
After the ride, the Wahoo syncs with my iPhone at lightning speed with the app from Wahoo and also with Strava.
The operation is simple and intuitive, and I am charmed by the black-and-white screen, which is not a touchscreen. In my opinion, operation with buttons works better on the bike; you won't be bothered by a slow-response screen due to rain or sweaty fingers.
I have now used the Wahoo for navigation. The maps are top notch and up to date, but I had to get used to the navigation itself. That is where the fact that a black-and-white screen with a lot of roads on it is less clear than a color screen. Anyway, I realize it's also a matter of getting used to it. Incidentally, the Wahoo enthusiastically lets you hear and see when you reach the point where you have to do something. In this regard, I should note that the LEDs on the top (which you can also use to display heart rate zones, for example) are a bit difficult to read in full sun.
Maps must be loaded by phone, where maps from Strava do not have turn-by-turn navigation, but those from, for example, Komoot and Ride by GPS do. Loading is also fast.
The app on your phone is often required to adjust settings. I like that working. I am very pleased with the wonderful integration of robust hardware and smooth software. You can get started with an impressive amount of data, of which - frankly at my level - I only use a small part. It is also useful that you can set up different screens (you can also adjust the pre-programmed ones), such as training, navigation, climbing, etc., and have the data of your choice displayed on them.
Data that you adjust on the app is adjusted in real time on the Bolt. The disadvantage is that to adjust the screens on the Bolt, the device and your phone must be in close proximity. I have sent the Wahoo helpdesk an email about this and it is not planned to change this, so that you can make changes on your phone that are subsequently implemented on the Bolt.
Finally: Wahoo often comes with updates to the software, in which new functionalities are added. Recently the possibility to filter zeros from the cadence to prevent the average from dropping drastically due to keeping your legs still during a descent.

You know... no Gar-! How are you going to give that right to your always perfectly equipped and well-groomed (cycling) buddies ;) You search, you compare, you read these kinds of reviews. You're really not alone. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!
Do you go for the expensive, the well-known and do you know what you get? Or at least that more affordable (!!), new device. Want to read more? No, I bought this one. And I'm happy with it.
Battery: Cycled 2x now, very short rides (60 + 45km) and with the last one with navigation to see if the battery works a bit. resp. 85% and 88% remaining. I reckon it's right.
Installation/mounting: What I especially find so insanely easy is the installation and assembly of this small and beautiful device. Ready in 15 minutes. Look, I like that.
Navigate: I had never done cycling with a route. Never done so less important to me. I can't compare with other devices. But... the fact that I log in to Strava, create a route in 5 minutes (based on 'popularity') and then put it directly on the ELMNT Bolt via the app... that was a wow for me moment. What also struck me: readability of the screen is very good! Even with 'Polarized' Rudy glasses.
Ease of use: I was shocked. Where is the user manual. RTFM for once? Not necessary at all. Organizing your 'pages', super easy. Also on the go: just adjust it on your phone and flip, screen adapted to Elmnt. It is self-evident. You spend more time really organizing and grouping your data.
The results display in the app could be even better, more graphs. Nice if you like it. I usually look at speed, heart rate and cadence (and maybe someday wattage...).
When your ride is ready, it's also immediately available in Strava because the upload is arranged via the app on your phone (which you usually have with you anyway). In short, no hassle with cables and separate login etc.
In short, because I am already over those 20 words: Price / Quality and ease of use very satisfied.
So. That. Use it to your advantage.

Following on from my previous review the following. Tried the navigation yesterday. It works very quickly and easily. You search for a location on your phone. You enter the address in the wahoo app. The app stores the route in the bike computer. The control from your phone is really a big plus. I noticed that the navigation takes quite a while to recalculate the route, if you do not stick to the navigation instructions. But on the screen you see yourself cycling and you continue to see the original route, so you can live with that.
If you receive a call while on the road, the LEDs will flash and the cycling computer will ring. You can see who is calling on the screen. You can also see SMS coming in. That's really practical.
The battery also lasts a long time. After 130km of cycling I had used 30% of the power.
