According to our studio microphone expert
The AKG P420 is a condenser microphone with multiple directional characteristics. This large-diaphragm condenser microphone records more details than a microphone with a small diaphragm. This makes your recordings sound a bit more detailed in the high frequencies. Because the microphone has multiple directional characteristics, it is widely applicable. For example, you use the microphone for studio recordings of vocals, wind instruments, pianos and drums. Thanks to the figure 8 directional characteristic you record sound in stereo. This allows you to create a wider stereo image or record ambient sound that adds life to your recordings. Activate the high pass filter and remove low frequencies below 300 Hz. This prevents you from registering frequencies that do not add anything to your recordings.
