According to our smart home hub expert
Archos Hello is your personal Home Assistant. The biggest difference with the other speech assistants is that this speaker has a built-in screen. The integrated assistant makes your daily activities just that little bit easier. Ask questions and the answers appear on the screen or are spoken by the assistant. Every Archos base station has a touchscreen. They also have a built-in speaker and a built-in battery. This allows you to place the speaker anywhere in the house. Ask the assistant about the weather forecast or have the Hello video call your mother. You also switch on the Hello for your favorite series and songs. The voice-activated speaker works in combination with Google Play and therefore only with Android smart devices.
Note: when using this speaker as a speech assistant. The country-based features of Google Home are not yet available in Belgium. These are options such as weather, traffic and local news information.
Note: the speaker must be wired to the mains.

Have had this Archos Hello 7 at home for a few days now and I like it. Just like with the Google Home or Google Home Mini, you can ask questions via the built-in (also Dutch) Google assistant. You will not only receive an answer or reaction via sound, but the (one or more) results are immediately visible on the beautiful and clear 7-inch screen. This is very useful because you often have multiple choices to pick from and go from there.
The screen/device can be placed both horizontally and vertically, according to your wishes. This Archos Hello 7 also has a built-in rechargeable battery so you can place it anywhere if you don't have a socket nearby. With this Archos Hello 7 you can also connect and operate WiFi smart plugs, cameras, etc. that also work with the Google Home or Google Home Mini.
Android Oreo version is installed on the device and works as a regular tablet; you can add apps through the built-in Google Play Store. There are also various pre-installed apps such as Google mail, Youtube and the like, you actually have a full-fledged Android device.
Your privacy is guaranteed, among other things, by a camera lens that can be closed via a slide and by switching off the built-in microphones.
The sound from the built-in speaker is surprisingly good, it is of course not 'studio quality', but is fine. Playing music tracks from Spotify or Youtube (requested via Google assistant) also sounds good.
Then the design, which takes some getting used to.. It is a fairly large 'bulky' device, but for the application for which it is intended, it comes into its own in both positions in which it can be used.
On the back there is a USB connection, micro-SD card slot and the 12V charging plug and the device also has Bluetooth.
The only minor flaw I have experienced so far is that this Archos Hello 7, like the Google Home and Home Mini, does not immediately respond to 'Ok Google' or 'Hello Google', you must first activate the Google Home Assistant on the screen to ask questions.
So far I am satisfied with the Archos Hello 7 and its features, screen and sound. I will definitely be using it a lot. Well done Archos!

Yes you can also control your house with it was a bit surprised when I opened it it looks a bit cheap and I would have preferred it to be a bit faster and to turn on the ok google function is quite simple but not many Dutch people you know that the system (Android) must be set to English and you just have to set the Dutch language in the assistant app then the ok function can be turned on (also on tabs a telephone BTW) I use both English and Dutch because I also control the cromecast with assistant and some series in netflix are difficult to pronounce if you have to do it Dutch oh and lastly after a software update it sometimes hangs in sleep mode after pressing the power button then I have to turn it off and on again but other than that very chill device and easy to use definitely recommended also for Kids can take a beating
