According to our earbuds expert
Listen to your favorite music on the go with the Sony WI-C600N. Use Bluetooth to wirelessly stream music from your smartphone or tablet to the earbuds. Thanks to the active noise canceling, disturbing ambient noise is muted. If you want to hear some ambient sounds, you can turn on Ambient Sounds Mode. You can easily establish a wireless connection via NFC. Hold your phone to the NFC part of the earbuds and the connection will be made within seconds. With the different sizes of earbuds that are included, you can easily find the right fit. Always try various sizes.

I bought this headset for cycling (home/work traffic), so not specifically for sports.
The quality is just good. The noise canceling does its job well. The different modes are a godsend, sometimes you want to hear the outside world and sometimes you don't. On the bike you have wind noise past your ears anyway (whether you have floppy ears or not, it doesn't matter) that is not eliminated. An in-ear set can never solve that because it is only perceptible to you, not to the headset. However, the ambient noise is well compensated without having to turn the volume up very high.
In terms of ergonomics, it sometimes takes some getting used to, especially the operation. The headset has 2 'weights' (which are not heavy at all) that hang from a strap around your neck. This works fine for me while cycling, I don't know what happens to it when you go for a run or something like that. Because the 'weights' hang around your neck, you have to operate the buttons by touch. I think I'll get used to it, to be honest.
You can also make phone calls with this set. I haven't tried that yet. Because the microphone (I think?) is in one of the 'weights' I honestly don't expect much from it. Firstly because the 'weights' hang around your neck and are completely or partially covered by your jacket and secondly because of possible wind noise (when you cycle for example). But to be honest, I have not tried this, it might work well.
Finally, the set is quite pricey. I chose this one because of the noise canceling options. In addition, the brand played along which is the same as my phone that I use it on. Given the size of the 'weights' I would expect a (much) longer battery life.
All in all I am satisfied with this purchase.

Wanted noise cancelling, didn't offer this product. It does, but it doesn't mean anything. Very disappointing.

Bought this Sony WI-C600N after first trying the Sony WH-1000XM3. Let's start with the active noise canceling, it works (sort of) but definitely not like the xm3! This is not only due to the lack of earmuffs, the electronics are also unable to do the same to ANC. Still sent the xm3 back and not this one, sound quality is top, comfort is also fine, where the xm3 really works like a sauna on your ears. Because you wear them in ear, a lot of environmental noise is still blocked. Furthermore, this is one of the few headsets with bt aptx that allows watching TV with lip sync (one of my requirements)
