The fall protection prevents damage in case of a fall of up to 2m, but the OtterBox Symmetry Soft Touch still isn't as thick as other cases with fall protection. In fact, it's a relatively thin and light case that easily fits in your bag or pocket. The extra sturdy edges protect your touchscreen, because the edges come up slightly higher than the screen.
