I recently tested the Hisense 65U8Q Mini-LED (PRO) for Review.nl. Thanks to the many dimming zones, you get deep black levels that are almost comparable to OLED, while the image itself is very bright. That is nice in a living room with a lot of light, because the screen remains clearly visible. The anti-reflection system also works fine, and if you want, you can turn on the automatic dimming function so that the image is not too bright in the evening.
Note that you can lose some detail at maximum brightness (dynamic mode). In the standard mode, possibly slightly adjusted, the image is sharp with a nice contrast and deep black tones. The viewing angle is a bit disappointing, but that is due to the technology used.
The TV is a bit thicker and heavier than some other models. That is due to the Mini-LED technology and the built-in 4.1.2 sound system. That system sounds good when the TV is close to the wall. If you place it further away from the wall, the sound can be a bit less due to reflections. A matching Hisense soundbar is available if you want even better sound.
The menu works smoothly and clearly thanks to the VIDAA operating system. Popular apps such as Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Videoland and Prime Video are included as standard, and you can download many more apps via the app store. The remote control feels familiar with regular buttons, including number keys. You charge the remote control via USB-C or with a small solar panel.
This TV is also recommended for gaming. With an Xbox Series X it works excellently thanks to 120 Hz and the special Game Mode, which ensures smooth and sharp images without delays or stuttering. The TV even supports up to 165 Hz, although not all devices work with it yet.
In short: the Hisense 65U8Q Mini-LED (PRO) offers a nice clear image, great ease of use and excellent performance for both films and gaming. A good choice if you are looking for a high-end TV with many options.
