The Rode Wireless Micro is a handy set with 2 microphones for the content creator who is often on the road, thanks to its compact size. I put the receiver in my phone and start recording right away. I do not use these microphones with my system or compact camera, they only work with smartphones.
Compact design
The set I am testing contains 2 microphones, one receiver, 2 windshields and a wireless charging case. I noticed that all the components are very compact. The microphones are small and light, which makes them comfortable to attach to my clothing. During a recording, you can hardly see the microphones. This makes my images for social media look more professional. I store the microphones and the receiver in the supplied charging case. This case is about the same size as the case of a set of wireless earbuds. Thanks to this compact size, I can easily take the entire set with me on the road, which is useful when I record content while traveling.
Clear sound
I mainly use these microphones for social media content, for example when I make a travel vlog. The sound quality of the microphones is good enough for this. The sound is clear and distinct. Especially when I compare it to the sound quality of my smartphone itself, I am very happy with how clear the sound of the Rode microphones sounds. I hear much less noise and the sound sounds a lot sharper. When I film outside, I always use the supplied windshields. This means that the microphones pick up even less ambient noise. They do not have active noise cancelling, so it is important that I use the windshields outside.
Plug and play
A big advantage of the set is that I can start recording very quickly. I put the receiver in my phone, turn on the microphones and they automatically connect. After this, I immediately start filming in my camera app. The microphones also improve the sound when I film directly via a social media app, such as Instagram or TikTok. When I go out for a day, I leave the receiver in my phone all day. Because of the small size, I hardly notice that it is in there and I can record short videos very quickly. I can still connect the microphones and receiver to the Rode app, but I can only adjust a few options via this app. Because of this, I almost never use the app.
