Expert review of the Samsung QLED Q74C
The Samsung QLED Q74C is the mid-range TV from the 2023 QLED series. The TV has a 4K QLED screen, high refresh rate of 100Hz, 4 HDMI 2.1 inputs, and a low input lag. These functions don't just make the TV more attractive for movie and series enthusiasts, but also for gamers. I visited Samsung to test the TV and will tell you all about it in this review.
First impression of the Samsung QLED Q74C
The screen of the Q74C has a sleek design of 27mm thick and stands on a modern, flat stand. That's why this modern design is a real addition to your interior. The television includes the useful and minimalist Solar One Remote, just like the other Samsung televisions.
Bright images with a large color gamut
The Q74C displays colorful images with a high brightness thanks to the QLED screen. The QLED screen displays color tones in an accurate way. Thanks to this, I see various tones of yellow in the fur of a baboon when I watch a nature documentary. With a 10-bit color depth, the TV displays more than 1 billion colors. Combined with the peak brightness of 1000 nits, the colors splash off the screen. This makes the nature documentary with all its colorful images very lively and immersive.
Good contrast and a wide viewing angle
The Q74C displays a strong contrast and has a wide viewing angle thanks to the Dual LED technology. For example, one half of the fur of the panda is really dark, while the rest of the fur and surroundings are colorful and bright. The contrast remains clear even when I view the TV from an angle. The Q74C adapts the display to your environment thanks to the improved processor. It increases the brightness of the TV when there's a lot of light falling onto the screen. As a result, images are colorful when watching movies and series during the day.
Useful functions, for gamers as well
The Q74C is very suitable for gamers. Thanks to the refresh rate of 100Hz, images are displayed smoothly. This allows you to see all the details while gaming. You can clearly see all the chunks fly around on the image during an explosion, for example. Thanks to the low input lag of 5.8ms, there's little delay between your controller and the screen. As a result, you're one step ahead of your opponent. And, you can easily connect 4 different devices to the TV thanks tot he 4 HDMI 2.1 connectors, like a console.
Good sound experience
The TV has Object Tracking Sound Lite. Thanks to this, the sound moves along with the movements on the screen. Adaptive Sound automatically adjusts the sound to your environment. Is there a lot of noise in the room? The volume of the TV will go up automatically. The sound is good, but nothing special. For a truly immersive sound experience, you should connect a soundbar and subwoofer. The Q-Symphony technology combines the sound of your television and your soundbar for an immersive listening experience.
A lot of user-friendliness
The television includes the useful Solar One Remote. This remote is compact and only has a few buttons, which makes it very clear. The remote also feels comfortable in my hand. With just one touch of a button, I'm in the screen-filling smart menu of the TV. Here, I can easily navigate through my favorite apps like Spotify and Amazon Prime. I can also use the 4 smart buttons on the remote to get to the menu of apps like Netflix or Disney+ in no time.
