According to our charger for laptops expert
Suitable for Apple MacBook Pro 15 inches (late 2012 to 2015).
The Apple MacBook Pro Retina MagSafe2 Adapter 85W (MD506Z/A) has a MagSafe connector. This is a magnetic connector, so you don't have to worry about tripping over a cable any longer. The cable immediately disconnects when there's too much pressure on it.
This is an original Apple accessory.

General
First of all: I've only had this charger for a week now and I can't judge it further. I gave 3 stars for reliability, because the charger that came with my brand new MacBook Pro 15" late-2013 broke after 2 years. No warranty anymore, so I ordered a new one. Given the high price, I first bought an alternative charger, also 85W MagSafe2, but not from Apple. Was also immediately noticeable: lighter, less solid housing and stiffer cable. It broke after 4 months, which makes it a worse deal converted to Euros per month than the original Apple lasts 2 years .
In short: although I still had a warranty on that alternative charger, I received a refund and ordered an original one. There are many very negative reviews about this charger, they break every now and then and Apple blames defects on things like: too often the cable coiled around the legs, too much pressure at the point where the cable enters the housing or has become too hot.
Now I never coiled the cable around the legs of my first original charger or on the other hand coiled it tightly, always just in a large loop of 20-30cm. I did put it in a plastic power box at home (where you can hide a socket with chargers), but it has openings on all sides to allow the heat to escape. Now I have chosen to lay my MacBook charger loose and use the long supplied power cable directly in the socket. Thanks to the battery life of a MacBook, I've never had to take my charger with me (with the exception of holidays), so I'm curious with all the precautions I take now in advance, how long it will last.
However, it is a fact that this is not the most solid working device from Apple. I have 5 year old iPhones with a charger the same age and used by multiple devices and those cables and chargers still work. € 89 is not nothing, but it is completely worth it if you can use it for 3-5 years. Especially if you look at the purchase price of the MBPr15.
Nevertheless, I believe that Apple should also make the MagSafe2 cable modular, so that in the event of a defect, for example for € 50-60, you only have to replace the charging block itself. Saves us consumers in the purchase price, but also saves unnecessary environmental pollution. Anyway, my opinion probably doesn't matter, given that the American Apple website and also that one big online seller is full of literally thousands of similar complaints.
Finally, to put into perspective: I am otherwise very satisfied with the Apple charger, as long as it really lasts at least 3 years, anything shorter is poor quality and unacceptable in this price range.

It is a fine product from the manufacturer with high quality. Price is hefty, but at Apple price is not the unique selling point

The cables do everything you expect from them, provided you don't roll them too tightly. If you do they are prone to both external and internal cracks which happened to me last time. As long as you first make a loop at the top before you roll up the cables, you could last a long time with the charger. Especially since Apple's chargers are the most constant in terms of power supply than fake chargers, in other words better for your battery! Recommended.
