The Zoom H6 is the first field recorder I bought. I mainly use this for outdoor shots. With 4 AA batteries I can easily go out for a day. The sound quality is very good, but of course it strongly depends on the microphone(s) you use. The supplied XY capsule has good brewing quality and acceptable basic noise. I don't like the M/S capsule. For recording quiet sound sources, this microphone itself produces too much noise.

Thanks to the physical rotary controls, you always have quick control over the recordings.

For recordings with the zoom capsules, it is better not to hold the recorder in your hand to avoid contact noises. The windshield that is included is only sufficient in very light breezes. For outdoor shots, it is better to order the long-haired wind protector.

The H6 can also be used for music recordings. Because 4 or 6 microphones can be connected, the possibilities are endless. The recordings can be mixed afterwards in a DAW or on the device itself.
