According to our camera lens expert
De Tamron SP AF 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD IF Macro is a telephoto zoom lens that is suitable for full frame as well as APS-C size cameras. The lens has a fixed light value of f/2.8 over the entire zoom length. It doesn't only perform well in poor lighting conditions. This allows you to use faster shutter speeds, which makes it easier to shoot handheld and to freeze moving subjects. Besides that, the lens aperture consists of 9 rounded aperture blades with which you can photograph the subject with a beautiful faded background (bokeh). This will make the subject stand out from the background, giving it extra attention.

You know. You're shooting pictures at an event, but you don't really like people that much. Certainly not that dancing man on the dance floor, who, despite his cheerful smile, smells enormously of beer and sweat. Or that beautiful lady, whom you wouldn't even dare to approach without a camera. We are talking about a telephoto lens here, and not just any telephoto lens, the all-time classic 70-200mm f2.8.
Let's face it, every photographer (or videographer, like me) covets a good telephoto lens in their kit. One chooses a simple kit-like lens, such as an 18-200, the other only wants the best and gets a very expensive 70-200 from canon or nikon.
I'm a bit in between those two categories, I want the best image for the smallest price. That's why I found a good lens in the Tamron. It is a lens that can compete with the big names in terms of optical performance, but is slightly less in terms of construction. Nothing negative about the body, it is made of nice sturdy plastic. But if you keep it next to the 70-200L from Canon, you really notice a lesser quality, in terms of feel, but also in terms of finish. But this is totally acceptable to me!
You also miss the superior Autofocus. It works perfectly fine for most uses, but if there's a car heading straight for you, don't expect to get it in focus.
An IS is also missing, which is very welcome at this range. A good tripod/monopod or shoulder stabilization will help with this. These are the compromises Tamron has to make in a budget line.
So I conclude: a beautiful lens that I like to use in photo and video shoots. It lacks some of the pro features of the other 70-200s, but I've long been happy that it can compete optically at that high level.

This excellent lens, albeit without an image stabilizer. is a great alternative to the Nikon brother. The latter is of course a lot more expensive, but will not offer many optical advantages. The Tamron has a quiet motor, fast focusing and is affordable. As far as I'm concerned, it's highly recommended for the sports photographer who doesn't have to use the tripod directly in low light. If you are still in doubt between whether or not image stabilization (for (much) more money), I would say, take advantage of its absence. I don't miss it at this brightness.

Thanks to Camerashop for the always fast delivery! This service is always top notch, even after my 36th order!
As for the lens:
A lens that fits well in the hand! Great price for a sturdy quality lens! I don't miss VR in any way and is also not necessary if you have a steady hand. A photo shoot with a model done with this lens on my camera and a beautiful result in terms of photos. However, 1 (big) downside I don't like the AF! Shows far too much searching behavior in 40% of the cases! So tip that is definitely recommended: focus the lens manually. Overall conclusion: certainly a lens that is worth its money for its price. Great photos and that's what counts! This lens creates a nice blurry background (bokeh) of which I am attaching the very first test photo here!
