According to our SLR camera expert
Note: when you use the Tamron EF 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD with this camera, you have to turn off the lens aberration correction functions. You can do so in the menu of the camera.
The Canon EOS 77D single-lens reflex camera can be easily set up using the settings wheel. The small LCD screen at the top of the camera shows all your manual settings. The camera has a fast autofocus system with 45 focus points. It can shoot at 6fps, which means you can accurately capture sports activities, for example. The fast autofocus also ensures you'll maintain a sharp, clear focus on your subject when recording video. This camera can record full HD footage at 60fps. By turning the tiltable screen towards yourself, you can easily take a selfie or record a vlog. Thanks to the light-sensitive 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and high ISO value, you'll also be able to make clear recordings in low-light conditions.

The Canon 77D comes from a series of new SLR cameras that came on the market in the period 2016-2017 together with the Canon 80D and 800D. These three devices are technically similar: they share the same 24.2 MP APS-C sensor, have the same autofocus system, etc. The 77D is in terms of possibilities between the 80D and the 800D and was released in 2017, with the (then) new DIGIC 7 processor. The 80D is slightly older (2016) but has slightly more options than the 77D. For example, the 80D is splash-proof and the 77D is not. The 77D and the 800D are technically the same devices, look almost the same, have the same weight,... What distinguishes the 77D from the 800D? However, the following aspects: a display on the top of the device on which you can read the shutter speed, aperture, ISO, ... (especially interesting if you want to take photos low to the ground), a back focus button (to switch to manual mode pre-focusing) and last, but not least, a rotating ring on the back (instead of push buttons), with which you can not only (quickly) adjust the aperture when taking photos, but also very easily "scroll through" the photos and not have to go through one by one (with the push buttons), as with the 800D. In addition, there are some other minor differences that are less important. With the additional features described above, this device is placed with the more advanced photographer or "enthusiastic amateur", precisely because the above described features make the transition to the professional devices easier. So far a small sketch at the background of this device. Now the possibilities. This device is price/quality an excellent device. The 24MP APS-C sensor delivers high-quality photos (with (relatively) high dynamic range), has an excellent focus system (45 autofocus points, nicely distributed over the screen that in turn can be set in different ways) and last but not least a tiltable touchscreen, with which you can take live view photos. I.e. that you can focus almost indefinitely on the screen itself and immediately see the result on the screen. The tiltability of the touchscreen offers many advantages: e.g. taking photos low to the ground (without having to lie on your stomach), taking selfies, filming yourself, etc. Another big plus of this camera: connectivity: the device has a built-in WIFI function, so that you can connect to the camera with the Canon app and wirelessly download photos to your phone, ... The app even provides an option to take pictures from a distance via the live view function (eg on a tripod). Another plus is the speed of the camera: fast autofocus and maximum speed in burst mode at 6 frames/second. Although it must be said that the buffer for RAW files is not that large/spacious. For photographers who shoot a lot in "burst", such as nature and sports photographers (such as myself), this can be experienced as a disadvantage. The 6 fps is also decent but not too much, at least not comparable with the more professional devices such as the Canon 7D mark II and the 1DX (which are also a lot more expensive). In JPEG mode you will experience few buffering problems and you can, so to speak, take hundreds of photos in succession. Another (potential) downside to the camera is that it films maximum in Full HD and therefore not in 4K. For that you have to go to the more professional full-frame or system cameras at Canon. Personally, I don't find this a problem because I don't film much myself and FullHD is more than enough for me. The included LP-E17 battery lasts a long time in my experience, at least if you don't use live view. If you use the live view mode (a lot) and/or film, the battery will drain much faster. Finally, the ergonomics of the device: with its 540 grams, the device is really a lightweight device (certainly compared to the professional devices from Canon), light very well in the hand and is easy to use/handle, so for example an interesting travel camera. In short: if you are looking for a device that takes good quality photos and has a relatively large number of uses, then the 77D is a good option, especially if you want to make the transition from an entry-level model to a more professional device. Price/quality this is an excellent camera.

I am very happy with the purchase of this camera, I've had it for a little over a week now and have been on the road twice.
My previous device was a canon eos 1100D.
The 77D is easy to use, only used it twice and already very satisfied with it.

From a 1300d to the 77d. What progress. Sharper, faster, more focus point, better ISO, can continue to use current lenses.
