According to our robot vacuum expert
The Philips SmartPro Active FC8812/01 vacuums the floor and immediately wipes it with a dry microfibre cloth. This way, this silent robotic vacuum also removes fine particles from the floor. It does all of this with an almost inaudible 58 decibels. The robot vacuum has 6 different infrared sensors. It uses them to detect obstacles such as lamps or cables, and to neatly drive around them. The vacuum also uses these sensors to scan the floor. Is it specifically more dirty somewhere? If so, the vacuum will spend more time cleaning this spot. It's possible to operate this robot vacuum using a remote control as well. Start the robot, send it in a certain direction, change the cleaning route, or let it return to the base station. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the comfort of your couch.

My girlfriend and I both work full time. In addition, the household always provides extra work. An assistant certainly suited us well and I can say right away that the robot is certainly an added value for us.
Scope of delivery:
The delivery of the FC8812/01 includes of course the robot itself, the docking station (incl. mains adapter), a few brushes, a mop with the necessary attachment for the dry mopping function, a filter and the remote control. In itself everything you need to be able to use the robot, but afterwards I would have liked an invisible wall as well. I was a bit shocked by the thickness of the operating manual, but that was because it is written in eleven languages – going through the Dutch part and setting up the robot went fine, but more about that later (at the docking station).
Design/Finish:
The robot makes a solid, sturdy impression. I think the mix of matte and glossy (plastic) surfaces and the color combination of blue and copper are successful. After all, the robot is in the corner of our living room. You also want him to look good. For such a complicated piece of technology, the robot is very light, which is certainly only good for the battery life while driving around in circles. The low construction is also nice, so that it fits under a lot of furniture in our home and can also vacuum there. However, the docking station and remote control deviate from the robot and seem a bit cheaper, but ultimately do what they are supposed to do.
In operation:
After unpacking the robot and the accessories mentioned, it starts up quite quickly. Filter and dust container in, put on side brushes, charge the battery and then he can get started right away. Immediately after the first time, I was amazed at how much dust it was able to vacuum, even though I vacuumed the day before. During the automatic program it follows its different patterns. I've basically just had it clean automatically, following four different patterns (zigzag, random, wall, and spiral pattern). That was enough for me at all times and I didn't have to switch the robot to another mode. At first, the robot's work seems very uncoordinated, but after a while a pattern can be recognized. Ultimately, this also makes the robot move everywhere in the room and even moves back and forth between rooms. I had my doubts about this at first, because we have quite high thresholds between the rooms, but he also crosses these. We only have a threshold in the house, which is too high for him. He tries several times and then gives up. When I'm home I help the robot lift it over. The sound of the robot while vacuuming is acceptable. I was positively surprised because you still expect the sound of a regular vacuum cleaner. The robot clearly makes less noise, but I wouldn't turn it on and watch TV at the same time. But you can of course use the timer for that. I have set this up in such a way that the robot automatically starts working when my girlfriend and I are working. To do this, I check in the morning before departure that I don't leave things on the floor that the robot can suck up or cause it to get stuck. Allowing the robot to suck independently has worked very well so far. I only had one day in two weeks when he couldn't finish his work because he got stuck on one of the aforementioned thresholds in our house. He apparently drove on it at an angle and eventually got stuck. I don't mind this, because all other days he has always done his job neatly and returned to the docking station independently. However, the docking station is the biggest criticism I have on the FC8812/01. As mentioned earlier, the quality of the docking station differs from the robot in terms of appearance alone. In addition, programming times for the automatic cleaning program is a bit too complicated in my opinion and with the small buttons and the small display of the docking station, it is more like setting an old radio alarm clock. After reading the manual and trying how to do it, I finally succeeded and the robot sucked neatly at the set times. But the shock came when I wanted to charge the robot immediately with the mains adapter. For this I had to remove the adapter from the base station and yes: of course I had to set everything up again. In addition, the docking station is also too light. When the robot 'parks' backwards, it occasionally shifts the station and has to start again. To do this, you can screw or stick the station to the skirting boards. For us, however, this is not an option and we have to live with the small problems that the docking station causes. A solution from the Philips side could be to make the docking station a bit heavier or perhaps to work with a kind of suction cup – the robot is made for hard floors after all. The battery life is positive. I have not stood next to a stopwatch, but I have the impression that the 90 minutes indicated by Philips are also achieved.
Conclusion:
We certainly don't want to miss the helper at home anymore. In the two weeks that we have been using the robot, I have only used the regular vacuum cleaner once to vacuum in some corners where the robot does not go. One hundred percent the robot cannot replace an ordinary vacuum cleaner, but it comes pretty close. It has been said that we do not have carpet or other types of floor covering, which means that the robot has it quite easy with us. Nevertheless, he is in any case a huge help in the household and cleans even better than expected. He is definitively a relief from the cleaning work.

We are very happy with Philip. For this, we tested the Bluebot and returned it because it was "too stupid" and often crashed. Philip doesn't have that problem. Filip always does his job neatly and always finds his charging station on time. It knows its limits in terms of thresholds and the like and therefore never gets stuck on top of a pushed up carpet edge or other obstacles. It does collide quite often, but this never happens hard thanks to its resilient bumper and does not cause any problems or scratches or fallen furniture or the like.
We had the dream to have a vacuum cleaner robot vacuum during the day when we are away from home and arrive at a clean house in the evening, and that is exactly how it is now. In the evening we arrive in a clean house and Filip is proudly in his charger again.
Of course you have to put a few things aside if you want it to fit in well, but that is not a big job. We're done in two-three minutes of stacking and clamping doors.
What must be said is that the suction power is a bit disappointing. We have laminate throughout the house, with only a play mat (low pile) in the living room. The whole house is cleaned, but there is often something left on the rug. It's not much, but enough to stand out. If, like us, you only have a play mat or something similar in your house, that can be solved with the petty thief.
However, if you have carpet, then I would not readily recommend it.
Incidentally, we have tested the mop function, but we are not using it. Although some fine dust still sticks to the microfibre cloth, it is not much and with the mop attachment it no longer comes on the play mat (approx. 1 cm high). And, of course, dried stains just stay put - you shouldn't expect it to scrub too.
So even if you expect that there will be "mopped" I would refrain from the Pro Active if you also expect that he will cross thresholds. However, it is very suitable for our situation - and it also matches the interior nicely. :)
