According to our television expert
With the Philips 65OLED873, you can enjoy a true-to-life display of movies or series. This television is equipped with an OLED screen. The pixels on the panel go on or off individually, which creates a powerful contrast. Set up your favorite HDR content and view detailed images with a wide color gamut. Even the fastest actions are shown fluently, because the TV has a refresh rate of 100Hz. Besides live TV, you get access to websites, games and useful apps like YouTube via the Android operating system. It doesn't matter if you set up a movie or online video, three-sided Ambilight offers a special viewing experience. This technology illuminates the wall behind the screen in the colors of the on-screen image.

After having had a Philips Ambilight TV twice before, I bought a Samsung LCD 3 years ago. It was fine, but I still missed the ambilight. After some research I came across this one and ordered it from Coolblue. The delivery was excellent, ordered at 10 o'clock in the evening and the friendly delivery guys were already at the door the next day at 8 o'clock in the morning! Kudos for that!
Then the TV itself. It is really a beautiful with a nice thin edge. However, the TV itself is not really thin because the speaker is at the back. The foot is completely open which looks very nice but also makes it difficult to keep cables out of sight. With other TVs you can often use the middle part to hide cables behind you, that is not possible with this TV. I solved this by running the cables with a piece of tape along the side of the foot, so problem solved.
The picture quality of the TV is perfect. When I think of OLED TVs, I quickly think of brands such as LG and Sony that are widely praised, but this Philips is not inferior to that. Beautiful deep colors with nice high contrast and many settings to achieve the best image.
A Unique selling point of this TV, and the reason why I went for this one, is the ambilight. Once you've had a TV with ambilight, you'll probably never want anything else; it adds so much atmosphere and experience! Even if you listen to music via Spotify via Android TV (which is great, much better than the Tizen system my previous Samsung had) the ambilight moves with the music. A kind of instant club in your living room. there are also many settings with which you can adjust the ambilight completely to your liking; from a soft glow to a disco.
Are there no downsides? Yes indeed... The menus in this TV are sometimes really painfully slow. Whether you want to open settings or view the digital TV guide, it all takes a very long time, sometimes more than 10 seconds. That was different with the Samsung at the time. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future via an update because this is a minus,
The sound quality of this TV is really poor. Now in general sound is never very good with this kind of thin panels, but this is below par for me. Fortunately, I always use a soundbar myself, so this is not such a problem for me. If you're looking for a TV that sounds beautiful on its own, I'd leave this one.
With this TV you get a kind of extra design remote control, a kind of elongated magic wand, but that thing is really useless because you can hardly do anything with it unless you control the TV via voice commands. Furthermore, you can only change channels (1 for 1), change the volume or open Android TV... A bit sparse.
Briefly summarized; I am very satisfied with this TV and enjoy it very much. If you're looking for something new, be sure to check out an ambilight TV to experience what it can add. Especially if you also combine it with Philips Hue lamps (it all works seamlessly together). I do hope that the slow menus will be remedied.
