According to our gaming headset expert
With the Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero, you're ready for competitive shooters thanks to surround sound. You can hear your opponents stomping and you'll come around the corner prepared. Thanks to the 50mm drivers, gunshots sound impressively deep. When the game is loading, you can easily grab a drink, as you won't be restricted by any cables with this wireless headset. You can adjust the volume while gaming with the buttons on the ear cup. Playing with friends? You can give them clear instructions via the microphone, which has noise suppression. You'll help the team score one victory after the other.

I have now been using these headphones for 6 months with approximately 100/110 hours of gaming and/or movies. And I am extremely satisfied with these headphones. They are vastly underrated and there is little to be found about them but they are great. To be quite honest, the sound quality isn't great when you plug it in for the first time. Turtle beach software is really needed to make something beautiful out of it. The right settings are different for everyone, but it is possible. And if you like spatial sound, this can also be set. It took a while to connect the software to my headphones, hence my downside. The software is turned on automatically on PC startup but it works better for me to restart the program as soon as I turn on the headphones. Since I got behind that, all the problems have gone away. Incidentally, I have chosen to take Dolby Access for windows and with that the quality of the headphones really comes to life (I had never experienced that before!!!), but that is a choice that you have to decide for yourself. It's not necessary for a good experience, but it certainly gives you the wow factor. The ear cushions don't get hot at all and the headband fits me well for a long time (5-6 hours). The sound from the microphone is good enough. It will probably be better but even that is possible because it is a separate pluggable mic. The bluetooth connection goes with an accompanying dongle and is very stable for me. The battery life is fine in my opinion, I do about 5 to 6 game sessions with an average of 3/4 hours. I am very satisfied with these headphones and I am therefore very curious whether the ear cushions will be available separately, because I hope to be able to continue with them for a long time to come. They will probably wear out first. In any case, I highly recommend these headphones. Good luck!

The Elite Atlas Aero is a very good wireless headset. The sound quality of the Aero is very good. The software that comes with it is necessary to get the optimal sound from the headset. The 3D audio is also very nice. The headband is adjustable, but the headset may be too tight for larger heads.

Packaging The headset was packaged neatly folded, which means that it takes up less space and less packaging material is required. The accessories are packed separately in a box next to it. This box was additionally in a plastic bag, which in my opinion should not have been necessary.
In the package you will find the following:
Manual (1.97MB) USB receiver 3.5mm jack cable USB charging cable Short manual USB receiver 3.5mm audio cable with inline microphone and control buttons 2.5mm microphone Micro USB charging cable Note with link to the software
Usage I initially hesitated between the Steelseries Arctis 7 and this Turtle Beach. For me, the build quality of the headset was decisive. The Steelseries felt very fragile to me, and had seen several reports online that one of the ear cups had broken off.
The build quality of the headset feels good. The headset feels sturdy and solid, if not a bit heavy. During use, however, I did not experience it as too heavy. The headset is made of metal, from which it gets its sturdiness. The ear cups are made of memory foam, which you also notice when putting them on (in a positive sense).
The headset works fine out-of-the-box on Windows 10. After plugging in the USB dongle, the headset is directly paired with the dongle, and the drivers are also automatically installed automatically. For further adjustments such as the equalizer, what the function key is for, etc. TurtleBeach software is required. This installed quickly and after reboot it works well with the headset.
The use of the software is doable, but could have been better. Some functions are well hidden in the software and you have to search hard to find them.
The range of the headset is sufficient, but I actually expected more. I also do not live in a new-build home, which could potentially have a negative impact on the wireless range.
Battery level is unfortunately only visible in the software itself. Incidentally, during my use I have not yet noticed how the headset itself indicates that it is starting to run out. At times when I'm working on the PC and don't need a headset, I have it connected to the IV.
I did, however, have a few times that I hit the wrong buttons on the headset, so that the sound went softer or the headset went off. The power button is deeper than the adjustable function button, but I can't reach blindly for the right button yet.
I do miss a pouch or case to take the headset with me. There is, however, a space behind the right earcup to store the USB dongle.
Sound quality The Turtle Beach Elite Atlas Aero is equipped with 50mm 'Nanoclear' speakers. Good sound comes out of this, and what is also important to me is that good low tones come out. I'm not an audiophile, and I don't have headsets for reference, so comparing is difficult for me.
Virtual surround sound is provided by software, which works fine in my opinion.
I think this headset will suffice for most gamers. I think the real audiophile will rather compare different headsets, keep a different price range, and don't want wireless. However, these are assumptions and do not necessarily have to be reality.
I don't use the microphone much myself, so I can't give a solid opinion about it at the moment. wearing comfort I have a slightly larger head, but in terms of wearing comfort I have nothing to complain about the headset. I do get a comment from my girlfriend when I have had the headset on my head for half a day: the over-ear ear cups are pressed into my skin after a few hours. Unfortunately, an afternoon of gaming is not possible when the cat is away from home... Conclusion The Turtle Beach Atlas Elite Aero is a comfortable headset with a good feature set. The Turtle Beach Control Studio provides ample setting options such as an equalizer and setting options for 3D audio, macros and Superhuman Hearing mode.
Audio transfer is via the supplied USB dongle, or the supplied 3.5mm audio cable. The wireless range is adequate, but I expected better. However, the range is more than sufficient for gaming.
The battery lasts a day of gaming just fine. Charging is unfortunately done via micro-USB, so that is a drawback. Furthermore, as mentioned, I miss a pouch or case for transport.
All in all a good headset for a good price.
