boox has the best e-ink screens right now
on a 13-inch screen, almost every document is clearly legible
90% of android apps just work
e-ink monitor mode almost useless

I actually bought it for the e-ink monitor function that can be connected to any device (with HDMI out) via the HDMI port. While this works, the result is really substandard; the resolution has to be set much lower than that of the tablet, the refresh rate goes down enormously, and only black on white text is readable, and only after a full screen refresh.

As an e-ink tablet, it's fantastic; just web browsing with chrome or firefox (especially in "reader mode" very pleasant) on an e-ink screen; no other eReader family does this (unless other recent Chinese e-ink products). But for this use, the 13 inch is a disadvantage; large device that you always leave at home. Unfortunately I had taken the 13inch version just for the monitor function; since this function does not work well enough I am better off with the 10 or 7.8 inch version for less than half the price...

It will have to wait for the dedicated e-ink products from Boox or Dasung to have a decent e-ink monitor
