I bought the groovebox because I noticed that I don't like sitting alone behind my computer when someone else is at home. Because the groovebox can be used without power supply, I can make music on the couch or at the dining table. This way I can quench my need to make music and also do some social activities.

The circuit tracks perfectly meets this need because it is so portable and works on battery.

The ability to add your own samples is a must. I got tired of the pre-installed sounds pretty quickly. Novation itself offers 2 libraries (I really like the drum and bass pack). You can buy circuit packs on the internet, but I would recommend uploading samples from sample packs to the tracks and compiling your own pack.

The device doesn't offer audio over USB or a way to easily export multitrack. This is a lot of manual work (choose the right pattern and then click on record in your daw)

You are very limited in terms of fx, you actually choose 1 setting and then apply it to all your channels (provided your potentiometer is turned open)

It's also a nice device if you need a backing track for when you're playing guitar or something like that.

I use it completely standalone so I can't say anything useful about programming patterns for external synths / samplers
