This headset is advertised as having surround sound. However, if you look into it a bit more, you quickly learn that a wired headset can never really offer surround sound. The reason is that only a stereo signal can be received via the 3.5mm connection. Consoles like PS4 and PS5 do not send surround sound via the headphone port, and this headset does not have a built-in surround processor. The advertised 7.1 surround only works via Razer software on PC and not on consoles. On the PS5, the Tempest 3D audio effect can add some spatial sound, but this is not the same as real surround sound So I feel a bit cheated. I should have done my homework better. I'll test the headset for a few more days before making a final decision. Do you absolutely want surround sound? Then you should go for a wireless headset. Do you not necessarily want that and are you okay with a wire? Then you can maybe try the cheaper headsets without missing out on anything compared to this one from Razer.
