It is a nice little block that can be placed between the tap and the hose. You don't have to leave it for the price. Certainly not if you buy a washing machine or dishwasher worth half a month's salary and do the installation yourself. Unfortunately, nowhere on the internet can I find out how it works and why. Mainly due to a lack of scientific evidence on how it works and you can only see after years whether you really have less limescale in your washing machine by removing the element and comparing it with your neighbor who has not done it.
