Compact, lightweight and cozy on my counter. That is my first impression of this Dolce Gusto Genio S Plus. You make different coffees with the capsules, I only have to indicate the number of lines on the capsule and the machine does the rest. Whether you have a small cup or a large mug, the adjustable drip tray allows all cups to fit under the machine and my espresso cup is not covered in splashes.
Push buttons and control ring are easy to use
The machine has some push buttons and a control ring. When I lift the capsule holder, the device turns on and I can get started right away. Personally, I find putting the capsule in a bit inconvenient, because the angle is just awkward. I turn the ring and see that you click on the amount of water, the XL function and the maintenance.
Little noise during brewing and stops automatically
With a lungo cup I have to use the 4 lines, since this is on the capsule. I click on the coffee icon and the machine starts running. The device makes little noise. Good, because my roommate hardly notices that I'm making coffee. What I also really like is that the machine stops automatically when it's done. Now I know that there is always the right amount in my cup. Wait a while before removing the cup from under the machine. The machine will still leak for a while, otherwise the drip tray will be dirty so quickly.
Personalize my own cup
While I'm playing with the machine, I see that you can set the coffee in different ways. For example, you have 4 different temperature settings, of course the different sizes and on top of that the espresso boost. That's the coffee bean icon. I went blind tasting and knew exactly which espresso was more intense than the one without the espresso boost. Not only is the amount less, but it tasted a lot more concentrated.
