Everything on Super Mario games
Super Mario has been the Nintendo mascot for years. The Italian plumber has played a leading role on the Nintendo consoles for a long time. On 6 April, you can even see Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Peach in the movie theaters in their own animation movie. Read everything on Super Mario and his games here.
The start of Super Mario
Mario appeared in a game for the first time in 1983. The game was called 'Donkey Kong' and Mario was called 'Jumpman' back then. He did already have the same appearance as now with his red clothes and recognizable mustache. Soon, more games around Mario were released. That same year, 'Mario Bros' was released. This was also the first game in which we saw Mario's brother Luigi. The sequel named 'Super Mario Bros' released in 1985 and was the start of Mario's big success.
The 2D Mario games
After the success of Super Mario Bros, dozens of other 2D Mario games were released. These games always stayed popular, even on the newer consoles. For example, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe and Super Mario Maker 2 were released for the Nintendo Switch. In the second one, you can even create your own 2D Mario games that you can then share online with other players.

The 3D Mario games
After the launch of the Nintendo 64 in 1996, Mario made the switch from 2D to 3D. Super Mario 64 was the very first 3D Mario game and is viewed as one of the best games ever. On the Nintendo Switch, you can enjoy Super Mario Odyssey in which you can change Mario into various objects or Super Mario 3D World that you can even play with 4 friends.

- Throw your cap to enemies and objects and use it in your adventure.
- This game doesn't have a 4-player mode, so you can play with a maximum of 2 people.
Mario is an all-rounder
The 2D and 3D Mario games are almost all platformers, but you can run into Mario and his friends on many sports fields. The Mario Party games are also very popular and of course we shouldn't forget Mario Kart. In this, you can race together with other characters from the Mushroom Kingdom through challenging and colorful circuits. Are you more a fan of strategy games? Mario on the big screen
From 6 April, The Super Mario Bros Movie is finally playing in the movie theater. Mario has to save his brother Luigi from Bowser together with Peach and a lot of Toads. This animation movie is made by the studio that also made Minions and Sing. Chris Pratt, Jack Black, and Anya Taylor Joy among others portray the voices in this movie.
