How do you choose the right washing machine capacity and dryer capacity for your washer dryer combination?

A washer dryer combination always has 2 different load capacities, one for washing and one for drying. The drying capacity of the machine is always lower. When choosing the right washer dryer combination for you, always check the load capacity for washing. Find out what load capacity you need below.

Choose the load capacity of the washer dryer combination

You can choose the right load capacity for your washer dryer combination by looking at your type of wash cycles:

  • Many small wash cycles: 7kg
  • Small and larger wash cycles: 8kg
  • Large wash cycles or large items of laundry: 9kg or more
  • Dry all laundry in the drum: buy a set
  • Dry part of the laundry in the drum: buy a drying rack

The washing capacity and dryer capacity are different

When you use a washer dryer combination, you wash and dry in the same appliance. Do note the difference in the maximum washing and dryer capacity. A washer dryer combination always has a larger capacity for washing than drying. This is because your clothes weigh more when wet and need more space to dry. So when you have a full drum, you first always need to remove some laundry from the appliance to dry.

7kg laundry

Many small loads: 7kg

If you only wash small loads, a washer dryer combination with a washing capacity of 7kg is sufficient. We recommend this machine for a household of 1 person. The drying capacity of these machines is about half the washing capacity. That means you can dry 4kg in the drum and the rest on a drying rack. Do you occasionally wash larger loads or are you expanding your household soon? Choose a higher load capacity.

8kg laundry

Small and larger loads: 8kg

Do you sometimes alternate regular loads of laundry with larger loads? Choose a washer dryer combination with an 8kg washing capacity. That way, you can easily wash the bedding for 1 or 2 people in a single load. Thanks to the load sensor, you never use too much energy with small loads. The washer dryer combination automatically adapts the consumption to any amount. You can dry about half of your laundry in the drum. Hang the rest on the clothes line.

9kg laundry

Many or large items of laundry: 9kg or more

Choose a 9kg load capacity or more when you often do large washes. This is also useful if you wash large pieces of laundry in one go. Think of the bedding of a larger household or your curtains, for example. The load sensor automatically adjusts the consumption to any quantity, so you never use too much for a small load. The large appliances have a drying capacity of about 5 to 6kg of laundry. We recommend them for households of 2 or more people.

washing machine and dryer set

Dry all laundry in the drum: buy a set

Do you prefer to dry as much as wash? Choose a separate washing machine and dryer. You can then choose the same load capacity for the dryer as for the washing machine. This way, you can be sure that all your wet laundry fits in the dryer at once. If you have limited space, stack the machines on top of each other. You can easily do this yourself or have it done by our delivery service. We've already made a selection of which washing machines and dryers go well together.

Hang laundry

Dry a part in the drum: buy a drying rack

Don't care whether you can dry everything at once in the drum or do you always dry just a few clothes in the drum? Choose a washer dryer combination with a drying capacity that suits you. You can then hang the rest of your laundry on a clothesline. If you have limited space, a wall drying rack or hanging drying rack is a good choice. For more drying space, choose a drying rack or tower.
