The lens itself is really the max...1.8f-2.8f 24mm-70mm zeiss really gives very nice pictures...okay the zoom range is not that far but you have to decide that for yourself and if I catch it I'll take it most photos on vacation are between that focal length... There is also a bright zoom on so you can zoom in a little further with very little loss of image quality. What the controls and possibilities are...is huge you can set everything yourself and there are 1001 suggested programs that work really well.
