Tado Extension Kit

After weeks of installation problems with the extension kit, it finally works and does what it's supposed to do, but that was a bit of a struggle. Tado asks for the current thermostat during installation and assumes that you want to replace it 1-on-1. From wired (current: TOON) to wireless is not an option at Tado, clumsy..! Contact with Tado customer service initially seems smooth via Chat function on the website and via email with technical support. For difficult questions, technical support must be added and they can only be reached by email and it takes 2-3 working days to answer each question. There was uncertainty about whether the extension kit had to be connected to a separate 220V, instructions from Tado followed, result: short circuit! :( After weeks of emailing back and forth, it turned out that my Bosch HRC boiler needed to be wired differently, according to Tado. Then I decided to bring in an installer (a €136). He contacted the Bosch helpdesk and together they came to the conclusion that Tado's connection instructions are not correct at all. The B-B connection at Bosch is specially intended for Bosch products, according to Tado the extension kit had to be connected to it. When the wiring was correct, the boiler did not respond to anything. Also those instructions how to set the boiler from Tado are not correct, channel 1 apparently had to be set to 4..

The starter kit was configured like this, but this extension kit requires an expert and therefore extra costs! If I had known this, I would have bought a Nest, drama installation! Although the people at Tado are friendly, a lot is not right and you have to wait too long for help, and stick to their position that what is in Tado instructions is correct. Shame for such a nice product..

We already had a Tado thermostat and were very satisfied with it. The only problem with us was that it hung opposite the fireplace. If we wanted to light a fire, the thermostat would not turn on, and it was a bit cool upstairs. Now we can set the thermostat upstairs when the fireplace is on downstairs. Installation so simple that anyone could do it. Connect to existing thermostat wiring. The Tado app recognizes the extension kit and guides you through the installation based on questions and options. It took me 20 minutes to do it myself.

Service Tado is really bizarrely good. If you run into something during the installation, you can contact the helpdesk directly from the screen and you will be helped in no time. Just like Coolblue, they understand very well if a company was the customer's will.

You can't do anything with the extension kit if you don't answer all the questions at tado first. Been busy for a week now but still no working system. There is no quick installation, you can only contact the chat service during the day, but then you still have to hope that they will respond after an hour.
