According to our range hood expert
The Smeg KAP800XE is a wall-mounted range hood that deserves a place in your industrial or modern kitchen. When preparing a curry, for example, you can choose one of the 3 speed settings to exhaust the fumes. The range hood uses a ventilation system for that, or recirculation if you convert it. Thanks to the flat top, you'll have room for decoration, such as a basil plant. The range hood is 80 centimeters wide and suitable for small to medium kitchens. Are the aluminum grease filters ready for a cleaning? You can easily remove them and clean them in lukewarm water with soap, so you can use them again.
Doesn't include a connector. Make sure to order one separately.

This smeg extractor hood looks nice, stainless steel and is 80 cm wide. A size that is hard to find. Have a 73 cm wide Boretti gas hob on an 80 cm wide Ikea cabinet, so find the 80 cm extractor hood the best finish. Unfortunately, the installation manual was really disastrous. Bad pictures, both the quality and that they do not match the product. You can apparently mount the extractor hood in 3 different ways, I'm talking about the wall mounting (not recirculation from exhaust air). But when it is best to choose what is not explained. Self-chosen for mounting on the leveling hooks. Most solid. Do a lot of measuring and marking (no explanation in manual how to do this!) Because you cannot mark drill holes (masonry drill 12 mm) from the extractor hood. After these hooks, for safety's sake, the supplied screws and plugs are fitted at a lower level (slightly above the filters).
The online manual of Coolblue and Smeg itself states that this extractor hood must be mounted at least 75 cm above a gas hob, while this is normally 65 cm. That is also the case with the Coolblue specifications and fortunately also in the supplied paper manual. NB induction or electric cooking is NOT mentioned in that manual, so I would also keep a minimum distance of 65 cm in that case!
Have it now partly mounted, because 1 non-return valve was broken on delivery and the other was missing. Still to be solved, can happen. You have to assemble (and buy) the plug yourself, but that is not the job. You can already buy a grounded plug for €1.50.
What I did find a pity is that the filter grids were difficult to place back in the extractor hood. If you are 1 mm wrong, it will fall back down.
Lighting is certainly good. But to my taste it is very white and chilly next to my warmer lighting on the rest of my kitchen worktop. On the other hand, you want to be able to see what is happening in your pans, and you can do that with this light. But for the atmosphere I don't leave the light on longer than necessary.
Suction power seems fine to me, as well as the sound. Only position 3 is too annoying noise to talk to each other in the open kitchen. Management is also fine. Push buttons. Would I know to buy it? Yes. I absolutely wanted to have a rectangular flat stainless steel extractor hood of 80 cm and they are scarce. Otherwise I would probably have bought an ETNA in terms of price / quality.
Finally, mounting tip for if you are going to buy / have bought this extractor hood.

Perfect suction power, Size covers entire hob. The downside is that the housemates can no longer smell my cooking skills !!
