According to our soundbar expert
Thanks to Dolby Atmos technology, you'll enjoy spatial audio.
The center channel only emits voice frequencies, producing clear, realistic vocals.
You can stream CD-quality music via Bluetooth aptX.
Doesn't come with an audio cable.
You can't use Bluetooth to connect the soundbar to your television.
With the Philips Fidelio B8, you only need 1 speaker and a subwoofer to create a movie theater experience. This soundbar features 18 integrated drivers and Dolby Atmos technology, which means the sound is reflected off the ceiling, with wide audio dispersion. This way, you'll hear sound effects coming at you from all angles. The dedicated center channel produces clear, high frequencies. Whether you're watching a movie or playing a song, dialogue and vocals will always sound clean and intelligible. The 220-watt subwoofer will make thrilling movie scenes even more riveting. You can place this wireless bass speaker wherever you want in the room.
Connecting the Philips Fidelio B8 Soundbar to your TV
Use the included HDMI cable to connect your soundbar to your television.
This solution for Blue Ray and Dolby Atos movies enabled is fantastic, the movie experience is completely different, you are right in the middle of it. Perhaps a little less pleasant for the neighbors, but the sound quality is overwhelming and definitely recommended if you are a movie buff, and you like action movies.
For listening to music I find the sound just a bit nervous. The sound texture is different from ordinary larger speakers. It is less full or full. In addition, the sound streamed over Apple TV sometimes dropped, not with Itunes but with Spotify, for example. But this also occurs with other WiFi enabled speakers. This is less the case with Blue tooth. But then the Apple TV is in between. So it could also be Apple TV :-).
The device is user-friendly and quickly set up. They hide the connections for all cables aesthetically, and sometimes that is also a disadvantage.
For film I would definitely go for this solution, for music I prefer to stick with traditional speakers.
Tested not purchased.

Unfortunately I did not buy this set from Coolblue. Coolblue unfortunately did not go along with the VAT days of another party... Still, coolblue deserved the review from me. I am very happy with this set. The sound quality is really good for movies. You don't need extra speakers and still provide a full and spacious sound with deep and full bass. For music only, I find the sound slightly less full than with normal speakers. It's certainly not bad, but not the same quality as watching a movie. This speaker is really designed for that. I also have the idea that I should soon replace my full HD TV with a 4K version (the image is now inferior to the sound :-) The speaker has many connection options, so you can always bring a good signal here. Connecting is beeped in less than 5 minutes. All in all very happy with it!
