We have selected this refrigerator as a replacement for an old noisy refrigerator. Unfortunately, this refrigerator makes more noise. When the refrigerator is turned on, it defaults to the fast-freeze mode (sounds like idling car). If you turn it off, the sound is significantly less but still clearly present.
