According to our tablet expert
You can use the Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch for editing photos and videos or for playing games. All your videos are displayed clearly and smoothly, thanks to the screen's 600-nit brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to HDR, the Apple iPad has a broad color spectrum for realistic color representation. The thin bezels make it look like a large screen in a compact casing. This lets you easily take the 469-gram Apple iPad Pro to school or work. You use this tablet together with an Apple Pencil (1st generation). That way, you'll be more accurate when sketching and taking notes.

My tablet is always my regular companion between my iPhone for on the road and my MacBook Pro for the heavier work at home. Old iPad retina was allowed to retire after 5 years, so looked for a new one. Gone are the days when Apple released 1 device per category every year, so it was a lot of deliberation between iPad 2017/ iPad pro 10.5 and iPad pro 12.9. Thoroughly compared all 2017 models with each other and ultimately opted for the 10.5 pro.
Screen size was 'best out of 3' for me personally. Slightly larger than the classic 9.7 but still very portable and manoeuvrable, as it falls almost entirely within the bezels of the classic size.
Screen quality completely pulled me over the line. A huge difference from the regular 2017 iPad. Pro screen is much smoother thanks to 'promotion' and you can see that immediately when you compare them side by side. The color palette is also much richer and you benefit directly from that when viewing media.
Apple has opted for the new pro line for the A10X processor, which is a bit overkill for the current iOS, but certainly futureproof for future software updates. This iPad can last for years in terms of computing power. This was immediately the reason to choose the pro in this area compared to the 9.7 iPad 2017.
iOS 11 is a huge step forward for the iPad experience. Multitasking is getting a bit closer to a PC experience, but I wouldn't really call it a laptop replacement.
The downside is the price. Even for the 64GB model, this one comes pretty close to a macbook air. I would have found an entry-level model of 128GB for 700€ a bit more fair.
In short, a must for those looking for a decent tablet. The iPad Pro is certainly one of the better ones currently available on the market and will certainly not be a bad buy. If you only use the tablet for sporadic emailing and some media consuming on the couch, I would recommend the regular 2017. However, if you attach great importance to a beautiful and smoother display, as well as a processor that can last for a few more years, you should just go for the pro.

No tablet can beat the iPad from the throne. With the pen, speed and screen, with the new pro you have a device in your hands with which you have a loyal fast friend for the next 4 years. Great thing.
