The biggest superficial difference between the Cloud Flight and a number of other headsets is the lack of software. Where the Steelseries comes with an equalizer to adjust the sound as much as possible, to see how much battery is left and to adjust firmware, the HyperX has no software.
My personal conclusion: The HyperX is so good out of the box that an equalizer is unnecessary. Even with the software I couldn't configure the Steelseries in a way that came close to the Cloud Flight.
I was also worried that the lack of 7.1 would be an issue. I myself had never owned a 7.1 headset before. Also here is my personal conclusion: 7.1 you just don't miss it. All audio cues such as footsteps and gunfire are clear. You know exactly where the sound in the game comes from. Turning on 7.1 mode on the Steelseries made everything sound like I was playing in a bathroom.
