According to our soundbar expert
You can wirelessly connect the soundbar to a Samsung TV made in 2012 or later.
Thanks to the integrated WiFi, you can easily pair your smartphone or other speakers with the soundbar.
When you connect the soundbar with an HDMI cable, you can control it with your TV remote.
You can only connect the soundbar via Bluetooth if you have a Samsung TV from 2012 or later.
If you want to connect the soundbar to the TV, you have to buy a HDMI cable separately.
Listen to your own music wirelessly or amplify the sound of your favorite movie with the Samsung HW-MS650. Using SoundConnect, simply connect the soundbar to your Samsung television via Bluetooth. You can install the soundbar using the One Mount bracket, so it'll hang directly beneath your TV. The sound is distributed through the room via its 9 speakers. The integrated subwoofer amplifies sound effects from series and movies. Is the bass effect not powerful enough for your taste? You can easily connect the SWA-W700 subwoofer to the soundbar. To play music, simply connect the soundbar to your smartphone using Bluetooth or WiFi. This way, you can stream your favorite music from a streaming platform or from your own music library.
Connecting the soundbar to your television:
Connect the soundbar with an HDMI ARC cable. You still have to purchase this separately. Don't have an HDMI port on your television? You can use the included optical cable to connect the soundbar.

There is nothing more fun than installing a new device. The previous soundbar (version with separate subwoofer) was 'banned' to the attic just a few days before the delivery of the new soundbar. Not that I wasn't satisfied with the previous soundbar (Samsung HW-J550), I just wanted a soundbar for upstairs for a while, and now that I got the chance to test a new soundbar, I thought this one has its place in my living room deserved. Unpacking the package went smoothly, a bit of a shock when you compare the size of the soundbar with my previous model! However, the MS650 contains 9 speakers and therefore also the subwoofer and you also get more channels compared to the J550 (5.1 vs 2.1). Everything you need to connect the soundbar to your TV is included, only an HDMI cable is missing. The latter is not necessary in itself, but facilitates installation and operation (see below). The installation can be done wirelessly with TVs that have bluetooth (which I don't have), or via the supplied optical cable or with an additional HDMI cable. I started the installation with the optical cable. Very easy; you plug the cable into the soundbar and into the TV, choose the right channel and the music plays through the soundbar! BUT … still through the TV speakers. This is not so bad in itself, it only becomes disturbing if you want to MUTE for a while, because if the soundbar goes into MUTE mode, the TV continues to play happily. Installation via the ARC HDMI port with an HDMI cable (purchased for 1.5 euros at action) also ensures a flawless installation and does not cause the above problem. So the optical cable was relegated to the box and the HDMI cable was kept. As mentioned before, the soundbar is quite large in size. Still about 8cm high, so it protrudes above the foot of my TV. This covers my IR port, so I can no longer use my remote control, unless I hold it very high in the air. This problem can be solved by either placing something under the TV base (this cannot be seen, since the soundbar is in front of it anyway), or by placing an external IR receiver (extra cost) or by mounting the TV on the wall. hang above the soundbar. In terms of sound, this soundbar is top! Nicely clear and full sound, with deep basses (and this while the subwoofer is missing). A nicer sound than what I was used to from my previous soundbar with subwoofer. There is certainly some surround effect, maybe not as much as with the expensive 5.1 channel surround sets, but you also don't have all the separate speakers and cables, which is a real advantage. For those who want it, a separate set of rear speakers can be purchased. The operation is very simple. A few buttons on the soundbar itself, or via the supplied remote control. The soundbar also listens to the TV remote control, so you can actually leave the soundbar tray in the cupboard. Nice to know is that there is no standby consumption due to useless lights that stay on.

This was my early Christmas present. It's a big Soundbar in an even bigger box. But the sound is fantastic. And rightly the best tested product January 2018. Of course I have tested other soundbars from other brands, but this one stands head and shoulders above the rest.
It only takes 10 minutes to connect I read somewhere. Well I was on it for 1 hour. Unpacking and mounting the legs. reading the user manual 7 minutes. connecting to the TV with optical wire I was done in 2 minutes. Now the Wi-Fi.... I used the multiroom app to connect to the soundbar. Put it on wifi mode and press the button for 5 seconds and you're done. No, it couldn't connect. And there would also be a pop up on the TV, nothing like that. Searched all menu. But it didn't work. Been looking for the wifi setup button all the time. Can't find anywhere. So again scrolling through the menus of the TV. Can't find anything again. Turned the soundbar upside down again. Searched everywhere for the wifi setup button again. Yes, finally found. In one of the many holes at the bottom is a slightly larger hole 20 to 30cm from the control panel on the right side of the bar. With tiny print wifi setup. Defense can still learn from camouflage. Man, man, man. Wifi password entered and ready to use. The music sounds good. Very very bright.
To watch movies I used the optical cable that came with it for a while. The sound is good. But with the HDMI it is many times better. With older series, the sound comes to life much more. The latest movies draw you in. When a plane on your TV flies past it to the left, it sounds like it's actually flying past. I only miss the rear speakers to let him pass behind me as well. And with the HDMI, the soundbar also turns off automatically when you turn off the TV.

Nice price/quality ratio. But above all really nice sound. After a fair amount of research, I finally arrived at this Samsung, because of the price, quality and expansion options. I could save about a tenner at other shops, but I chose Cool Blue for the reliable service.
