According to our smartwatch expert
With 9 LED lights, the Polar heart rate sensor is very accurate for a pulse measurement.
Thanks to Bluetooth, you can connect a separately ordered Polar heart rate belt for a very accurate heart rate measurement.
When you use the GPS and heart rate sensor, the battery life lasts up to 30 hours.
The watch doesn't support music storage, so you have to take your phone with you each workout.
The Polar Vantage M provides less extensive recovery advice than the Polar Vantage V.
Do you like breaking records? The Polar Vantage M is a multi sports watch and provides all your training data when you're exercising. You can adjust the settings for every sport, like the heart rate zones or the information your watch provides when exercising. Polar Flow keeps a log and provides feedback per sport. Other than that, the sports watch measures your daily activities and heart rate 24/7 and gives you a personalized activity goal. A good night's rest is important for your performance. That is why the watch measures your sleep duration and quality. Based on this data, Vantage gives you advice for your next training.
Note: it doesn't come with a charger. Want to charge the watch using a power outlet? Make sure to order a separate charger.

Finally a sports watch you can rely on! After using various activity trackers/sports watches, such as the samsung gear sport and the fitbit charge 2 and 3, I was looking for a watch whose heart rate measurement is reliable during exercise. I chose the vantage m because of its heart rate measurement with 9 LEDs(!) and it has not disappointed me (yet). The other watches I've owned didn't show a good heart rate reading during exercise, so all data obtained from the heart rate was worthless. The vantage m can do this and is very reliable in that respect. I think a small disadvantage is that you have to wear the strap quite tight for a good heart rate measurement. In addition to the beautiful design, the GPS also works well. Gps connection was found quickly and distances traveled correspond to the gps of my samsung a5 phone (30 meters difference at 10 km). I am satisfied with the battery. With continuous heart rate measurement on and an average of 3 hours of use of the GPS, the watch can easily last 5 days on one battery charge. Fully charging the vantage m in one and a half hours. The polar flow app shows a nice overview of your activities/training etc. But with the polar flow web service you can analyze all data in all shapes and sizes. With the training load pro you can see whether you are training well or if you should take it easy. To make reliable use of this function, you must first have collected 4 weeks of data. Sleep tracking is less brilliant. Here you only see the sleep time and your restless time. I have also experienced that if you have to go to the toilet at night, no sleep is registered during the whole night because you have to wear your watch for at least 4 hours during your sleep, shorter than this ensures that no good sleep registration takes place. I think another downside is that the vantage m does not automatically register an activity if I have cycled or walked, for example, (fitbit does this), so you have to independently start an activity on your watch in advance to get data about this. There are still a number of points for improvement for the vantage m, but hopefully polar can rectify this with updates in the future. Other than that, this is exactly the reliable sports watch I was looking for.

The only real drawback is that you cannot adjust the brightness of the screen. It is quite dark and difficult to read.

Long thought and search for the perfect sports watch with limited smartwatch functions. Initially purchased the fossil Q explorist Gen 4 at coolblue. I was guided by the design. I tried this watch for a few days. What struck me was that it is more of a watch than a sports watch or smartwatch. It also bothered me that the Fossil's battery only lasted 1 day. Also, the compatibility with iPhone was poor. Then purchased the Polar Vantage M. From the beginning I noticed the beautiful design. I initially fully charged the watch, installed the polar flow app and connected it to my iPhone 7. This went smoothly! The battery life is superb. The working method of The watch is easily two weeks without charging. I use it daily to go for a walk or workout. It is the ideal sports watch with limited smartwatch functions. I get messages on the watch. I can also pick up or take down via the polar. The lack of a touchscreen is not a disadvantage. This way you avoid unwanted touches on the screen. The controls are very user-friendly and the buttons are intuitive! The resolution is less sharp than, for example, on the fossil Q explorist or Apple watch, but this is not disturbing. The heart rate monitor works fine. When walking, it is best to tighten the strap properly. The built-in GPS works well. When walking, it is best to wait a while for this connection to make. Have noticed that it does not always immediately find a GPS signal. It may take a few seconds. Then very accurate connection. The app gives a clear overview of the route, the number of calories, distance, heart rate, performance, .... Simple synchronization between the polar smartwatch and your smartphone by connecting via Bluetooth. In short, the perfect watch for the sports freak who also likes gadgets!
