According to our mirrorless camera expert
Use the all-round 16-50mm for wide-angle and portrait photography.
Thanks to the advanced autofocus, the camera focuses in 0.02 second.
The fast Eye Autofocus, real-time tracking, and the fast image processor allow you to accurately follow moving subjects.
When zooming in, the light intensity is reduced, so you can shoot handheld for a shorter period of time.
Does not come with a memory card.
Note: we recommend an extra battery for a longer operating time.
The Sony Alpha A6400 + 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS is a mirrorless camera for advanced all-round photographers. With a focal length of 16mm, high buildings and landscapes can easily fit in your frame. Thanks to the advanced autofocus, the camera focuses in 0.02 second. This allows you to accurately capture activity moments in the tiniest details. The model features a fast Eye Autofocus, real-time tracking, and a fast image processor. This combination ensures fast image processing, which allows you to accurately follow a subject. This way, your subject is always in focus, even when you're capturing a driver. The Eye autofocus can focus on the eyes of people as well as animals. You can also take detailed photos in dark locations with the strong noise suppression and the high ISO range.

A camera that easily fits in a bag, takes beautiful photos and can film, then you have a good description of the Sony A6400. I'm still in the discovery phase, but already impressed. It is a small camera that I can easily carry in my bag. Or with the 18-50mm zoom. If you want more zoom range, you can easily expand it with an extra lens. It is extremely fast, useful in sports competitions. Without much technical knowledge, you can easily take pictures because it has a number of options such as sports, macro, night shots and panorama photo. You can get objects even sharper in the photo via tracking. It offers a very high range in terms of ISO value. It has a small flash, which gives surprisingly good light. A big plus is the image quality of the filming. The 4K provides beautiful images and clear sound. The tiltable screen is useful when filming. The camera also has an easy option to transfer photos to your phone. So the camera offers more than what I expected in advance.

I've had the camera for three weeks now and I'm still very happy with it. Discover more and more possibilities. There are many setting options which at first overwhelmed me a bit, but slowly but surely I am getting further and further with it. This ensures that my hobby of shooting with this camera opens up more possibilities. But it is also perfect for taking a quick family or environmental snapshot. Fast and without problems. Small flash on the camera and a hot shoe adapter for when I want more. Thanks to the lens mount, I can also connect other lenses in the future, which brings more. I still have to arrange a cable for the lens cap, because I will lose a loose cap in no time.

It's a great camera that I would recommend to everyone, which I don't do because there is no way to connect the camera to your smartphone. Sony has released an app, Sony Imaging Edge, that should help with this. However, it does not work and that appears to be a structural problem. Look for this in the reviews of the app in question. So if you want to be able to send photos on the go with your phone, first check if this problem is already solved. As for the camera itself, it's fine. It pays to watch instructional videos on youtube to understand the controls and menu. The battery life is also on the short side. This can be solved by buying extra batteries. Incidentally, there are batteries on the market that have a larger capacity than the original Sony batteries.
