According to our smartwatch expert
Feel free to leave your wallet at home, because you can make contactless payments with your watch via Garmin Pay (depending on your bank).
Displays heart rate zones during your workout, so you can focus your training on improving your endurance or burning fat, for example.
You can leave your phone at home when you go for a run, because you can use the watch to listen to your favorite playlists.
The navigation with an arrow and a route line is less clear than navigation with a map.
Garmin isn't compatible with all Huawei smartphones.
The Garmin Venu Black stands out because of its everyday appearance, which is less sporty than other Garmin watches. It has a sharp, colorful, and clear AMOLED screen that's easy on the eyes. You won't know because of it's appearance, but you'll always have the right workout on hand. The Venu has animated exercises for yoga, pilates, and strength training. It can also give you a complete overview of your health. For example, it can measure your fitness age, stress level, and breathing frequency. That's the number of breaths you take per minute. You can also keep track of your menstrual cycle and fluid intake. During a workout, you don't need your phone, because you can listen to music and pay via the watch.
Note: a charger adapter isn't included. Do you want to charge the watch via a socket? If so, order a charger adapter separately.
This watch is suitable for a wrist circumference of 17 to 19cm.

I bought the Garmin Venu during the Corona crisis, as I needed motivation to exercise. He has given me that motivation in any case, a beautiful design combined with a rock-solid app and various options that automatically make me want to exercise.
The Garmin Venu is described as a multisport watch, and it is. No sport is skipped and in the app you can create your own workouts that you can then easily transfer to the Venu. For example, I do interval running where after a short warm-up I run intervals of 40 and 20 seconds. The Venu counts down nicely and vibrates when I have to change intervals. It is water resistant so after heavy sweating you can easily rinse it under the tap. He is also very good at cycling. The distance is accurate at first sight and he keeps track of all the statistics very well.
Besides being a multisport watch, you can customize just about anything on the Venu. As mentioned, from your own workouts to the smallest detail on a screen during exercise. You can adjust just about anything to your own taste. I play badminton and for the training profile I'm going to use for that (since the gyms are closed), I've set the primary screen to only show heart rate and elapsed time. The second screen then shows the number of calories together with even the temperature (!). You can set all this yourself as you wish. If you don't get excited about all that adjustment, don't worry, you can leave everything on the default settings and the sports are also registered perfectly. Nice for people who have a passion for technology (like the undersigned).
The connection with the app is flawless and after the night it gives you a perfect sleep overview with heart rate / breathing / oxygen in the blood. The Pulse Ox for the oxygen in the blood can also be run only at night or during the day or never. This obviously has an impact on the battery life. The connection to Spotify (or Deezer) also works flawlessly. Logging in is a breeze, after which you can easily download your playlist. During a workout, it connects very quickly and easily to my Plantronics Backbeat Fit 3100 (wireless sports earbuds), after which you can listen to music via your watch. Beautiful right?
You simply feel like a real sportsman (or woman) with this sports watch. A true all-rounder.
The Garmin Venu is slightly more expensive than other sports watches, but honestly you also get a lot more than the sports watches in a lower price category. I don't think there is a single feature that is missing on this watch, which makes this a TOP sports watch.
PS: This Garmin Venu has an AMOLED screen which distinguishes it from the Garmin Vivoactive 4series. More expensive in price but definitely worth twice as much to pay more money for this!

Very nice sports watch with a lot of setting options. Contrary to some reviews, I can perfectly download the playlists from Spotify. Measurements such as heart rate and the like look very realistic to me. Too bad a nap is not registered as a sleep measurement. That worked better on my Huawei watch GT. On the other hand I now have the nice body battery meter and spo2 measurement. Breathing and stress is also neatly displayed. In the beginning I had 2 crashes, but that was already a week ago and was immediately after the upgrade of the new firmware, so I'll follow it up for a while. The watch has been working perfectly for a week now. For me, the screen could have been a little bigger like with the vivoactive 4L. The strap itself is elastic and you can therefore fit perfectly, but during exercise you feel that it is sometimes a bit too tight. The advantage is that the watch stays neatly in place and can therefore take correct measurements. I use the watch with only spo2 measurement while sleeping and I usually do sports on the treadmill or in the gym, so GPS is rarely used. I therefore do 5 to 6 days with 1 battery, which I am satisfied with. It's not 14 days like my Huawei gt but 5 days is still decent. A watch that you have to charge every day would be a turn off for me. So all in all very satisfied. If you want a nice screen and want to use your watch for sports, this is definitely recommended. Messages etc. also appear neatly on the screen, but it is of course not a real smartwatch. There are other models for that, but they have a very poor battery life and are usually not as accurate with the measurements as this Garmin Venu. You can also install other watch faces and apps on the watch (still limited for now), but despite these are only a few kb in size, it still takes a while before they are transferred to the watch. In terms of software, Garmin can still improve a bit. You will also notice this in the menu layout on the watch itself. You eventually get used to it, but with my previous watch this was much clearer. Furthermore, I would also recommend Garmin to take full advantage of the beautiful screen. Now I feel like they only do 60 percent of this. But this will probably improve in further firmware updates where Garmin apparently scores much better than other brands. After a long search I think I have found the right watch for my purposes and that it was a second chance in new condition with a nice discount was a nice bonus. Again top service from Coolblue from order to delivery!

Nice watch with many possibilities. The screen is very bright and clear. Easy to read under all circumstances.
But it will probably be returned anyway. One of the reasons for choosing this watch was the possibility to download spotify music. Finally no more mobile when running! But... wifi does not work, so downloading music is not possible. It's a known issue at Garmin. Garmin support says they are working on a solution. If it isn't there soon, it will be returned.
