This MacBook Pro is the most powerful laptop I've ever owned. The new M3 Max chip makes it suitable for the most demanding workflows and toughest tasks. Think of app development, 3D design and gaming. You can keep an overview on the 16-inch screen and you won't miss a single detail. On the other hand, it weighs more due to its large size. This makes it less easy to take it with you.
The same, but just different
Apple has changed almost nothing about the design. You still have a large trackpad, Touch ID and plenty of connections. This way you can charge your MacBook with MagSafe 3, it has 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports and a mini jack connection. There is also an SDXE card slot and an HDMI port. The only thing missing is an Ethernet connection. A nice detail is that the charging cable is included in the same color. The cable is made of fabric, so it wears out less quickly. The screen quality has received a boost. MacBook Pro still has a Liquid Retina XDR display, but this time with 600 nits. This allows you to see even the darkest images clearly. Previous models had 500 nits.
Everything is possible, from 8K video editing to app development and gaming
To create 3D drawings or develop software, you need a heavy processor with a lot of RAM. MacBook Pro with M3 Max meets those requirements. I develop apps in Xcode without any difficulty. I create 3D designs smoothly in demanding programs such as AutoCAD. Even my 8K video files render quickly and I run all these projects simultaneously on up to 4 external screens. Moreover, I can easily connect my PS5 controller to my Mac and play games like Resident Evil. Shadows and reflections look realistic. The new ray tracing technology and the 40 graphics cores are powerful enough for this. Frequent charging is not necessary, because my fully charged MacBook lasts up to 22 hours.
Fan of macOS Sonoma
With macOS Sonoma I make my home screen more personal. For example, I have widgets such as calendar and notes on my desktop. In addition, I easily transfer widgets from my iPhone to my MacBook.
As soon as I start gaming, I turn on Game Mode. This makes gaming even smoother and faster. Game Mode works with any game and also supports all new and announced Mac games. During heavy games I sometimes hear the fan blowing.
