The Playseat Challenge DD F1 Edition is a good racing seat that is comfortable and sturdy. The seat has a nice appearance, and I can easily set it to an F1 position. I attach the base and pedals to the frame with ease. I do find it a pity, however, that I really have to take the time to assemble the frame.
First impression
The Playseat Challenge DD F1 Edition comes in a sturdy box, and all parts are neatly packed. Inside the box, I find the instructions, stickers, and a bag of installation material. Although the frame is quite a kit, I assemble the seat easily. I also think the frame looks nice with the black and white colors combined with the red F1 logo.
Easy to move
Something I personally find handy are the wheels under the frame. There are 2 wheels at the front and back, so I can easily slide the frame. I fold the seat up easily when I put it away.
Good adjustability
What immediately strikes me is that the angle of the seat is adjustable. This allows me to easily adjust the chair to a partially upright position, just like a Grand Tourer to a reclining F1 position. What I also like is that I can easily adjust the pedal plate and the steering wheel plate to my own preference. I slide the plates forward and backward, as well as higher and lower. Additionally, I tilt the steering wheel plate. The seat has a Velcro strap, allowing me to adjust it to my preference as well. I am 1.76 meters tall and I fit well in the chair.
Easy assembly
I easily attach the base and the pedals to the steering wheel plate and the pedal plate. There are various openings in the plates, allowing me to mount different brands such as Logitech, Moza, and Thrustmaster onto the frame. What I also find very handy are the rubber cable straps. I use these to secure the cables to the frame so they don't get in the way while racing.
Realistic racing experience
I find the seat comfortable during racing, and it doesn't get too hot when I sit on it for a longer period. This is due to the breathable Actifit material of the seat. The steering wheel feels solid during racing. I occasionally feel a slight movement in the frame, but this is not bothersome. What I am a big fan of is that you feel the real force vibrations in the frame. Because of this, it feels just like I am sitting in an F1 car myself.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a comfortable and sturdy racing seat, the Playseat Challenge DD is the right choice for you. The seat looks great and is built for racing with strong force feedback. Although it is quite a kit, the seat is easy to assemble.
