Samsung OLED 83" S90H (2026) + Samsung HW-Q990H (2026)

With the Samsung OLED S90H, I watch high-contrast and colorful images where black is truly black. This OLED TV is a step up from the entry-level model, the S83H. For instance, the S90H is brighter, and you enjoy higher image quality thanks to the Glare-Free matte screen. Unfortunately, the TV does not support Dolby Vision, and you are limited to HDR10+ streaming services.

Realistic OLED screen The S90H features a Glare-Free OLED screen. The TV does not use LED backlighting but has self-illuminating pixels. For dark images, these switch off completely. As a result, I enjoy high-contrast images where black is truly black. In a night scene in London, I can see every light source, and the background is pitch black. Due to the high brightness of the S90H, the light sources are brighter than on the S83H, and the city appears more realistically. It feels like I am flying over London. I do find it a pity, however, that the TV does not support Dolby Vision. Wide viewing angle with Glare Free anti-reflective coating OLED televisions are known for their wide viewing angle, and the S90H is certainly no exception. Even when sitting at an angle to the TV, the screen remains bright and colorful. This allows me to see every shade of green in a summer mountain region. The S90H also features a Glare Free anti-reflective coating. As a result, you hardly see any reflections in a brightly lit room like our test room. I also find the matte screen to be a nice addition.

Slim design The S90H has the look and feel of a luxury OLED TV. Thanks to the thin design, the screen bezel is barely noticeable. Sometimes I think the TV has no bezel at all. Additionally, the screen is wafer-thin and stands on a beautiful central base.

The deciding factor in choosing this Samsung TV was the Glare Free screen, and in hindsight, that turned out to be an excellent choice. With my previous OLED TV, I was bothered by distracting reflections during the day as well as during dark movie scenes in the evening. With this screen, that problem has completely disappeared. Even when a light shines on the screen, the image remains clearly visible. As a result, dark scenes, in particular, are rendered much better.

The television offers extensive options to adjust picture, contrast, colors, and sound to your own preferences, among other things. There is also a special gaming mode available. Personally, I make little use of it, because the standard picture settings are already excellent for me. The image looks instantly razor-sharp, colorful, and bright, without having to adjust all sorts of settings first.

The sound is fine for everyday use, but could have had a bit more depth. The low tones, in particular, lack some power. It is certainly not bothersome, but there is still room for improvement in this area.

If you are looking for a television where annoying reflections are a thing of the past, then this model is absolutely worth considering. It is precisely the Glare Free screen that makes a big difference in practice. That is why I give this TV 4.5 out of 5 stars. Only the sound just keeps it from a maximum score.
