What are the advantages and disadvantages of a downdraft range hood?
With a downdraft range hood, you steal the show while cooking. A range hood in your worktop ensures you only see the hood when you cook. However, BORA exhaustion isn't yet available in many kitchens. A disadvantage of a cooktop with exhaust is that it's difficult to build-in.
What's a downdraft?
A downdraft range hood is a range hood near your cooktop. With a cooktop with extraction, the hood slides out of the countertop. You can control the downdraft automatically and set the height yourself via a button on the display. After cooking, the downdraft automatically disappears into the kitchen counter via a button. A cooktop with built-in extraction takes the air out or filters the air.
Build in
A downdraft range hood is difficult to build-in, especially if you want to place the downdraft in your current kitchen. Because of the engine block under your countertop, this is a very narrow fit. You can read all the pros and cons below.
Advantages
- A downdraft range hood takes up relatively little space and has a sleek design.
- You only see the downdraft during cooking.
- Because a cooktop with exhaust automatically comes up, you don't have to pull.
- The downdraft is easy to clean.
Disadvantages
- It's difficult to build a downdraft range hood into an existing kitchen.
- An induction cooktop with exhaust is more expensive than a traditional range hood.
- You have less storage space due to the engine that comes under the countertop.
- A range hood in your worktop doesn't suck all cooking odors away.
Unfortunately, we currently don't sell downdraft range hoods. We do have other range hoods that blend into your kitchen.
