Processing power
Galaxy Book6: newer generation processors
The Samsung Galaxy Book6 has Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. This is the newer generation processors that Intel announced early 2026. These processors have a bit more processing power, so the laptop can process tasks faster. These processors also have more TOPS. This allows them to process AI tasks faster. The Intel Core Ultra 5 processor has 47 TOPS. Depending on the processor code, the Intel Core Ultra 7 has 49 or 50 TOPS and the Ultra X7 has 50 TOPS.
Galaxy Book5: older generation processors
The Samsung Galaxy Book5 has Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors. These processors from 2025 are better than the Series 1 predecessors. They're not as fast as the Series 3 processors of the Book6. As a result, the laptop processes tasks a bit more slowly. The Intel Core Ultra 5 processor has 40 TOPS and the Intel Core Ultra 7 has 47 TOPS. That way, you can smoothly perform AI tasks but the NPUs aren't as powerful. That means the laptop is a bit slower when you perform AI tasks.
Screen
Galaxy Book6: Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen
Most models of the Samsung Galaxy Book6 laptops have a Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen. This screen displays clear and vibrant images with extra realistic colors. Thanks to the 1000-nit maximum brightness, the screen is also very bright. That way, you can even see the screen well in bright sunlight. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X has various technologies that improve the image. The refresh rate is automatically adjusted based on what you open on your screen. You're also less bothered by blue light.
Galaxy Book5: AMOLED display
The Samsung Galaxy Book5 laptops almost all have an AMOLED display. This is the energy-efficient OLED display from Samsung. Colors look vibrant and bright. These displays reach a 500-nit maximum brightness. That's less than half of what the Galaxy Book6 has. As a result, you can't see the screen that well in bright sunlight. In brightly-lit rooms, you can still see the screen properly.
Design and battery life
Galaxy Book6: symmetric design and longer battery life
The design of the Samsung Galaxy Book6 is different than that of the Galaxy Book5. For the first time, the design of the laptop is fully symmetrical. The touchpad of the laptop is placed in the middle instead of a bit more to the right. On the lid of the laptop, the Samsung logo is in the middle instead of on the side. The Galaxy Book6 also has a 24 to 30-hour battery life.
Galaxy Book5: different design and shorter battery life
The Samsung Galaxy Book5 has the same design as previous Samsung laptops. The touchpad is a bit more to the left and the logo is on the side of the lid of the laptop. The battery life of the Galaxy Book5 laptops is a bit shorter than that of the Galaxy Book6: up to 25 hours with average use. That's 5 hours less than the Galaxy Book6 with average use.
Conclusion
The Samsung Galaxy Book6 is more powerful than the predecessor, so you can perform more demanding tasks more smoothly. Thanks to the vibrant and bright Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, you can see the colors better on the screen. In addition, the design is a bit more symmetrical and the battery life is about 5 hours longer.
