Expert review of the Apple AirPods 4
The Apple AirPods 4 have an earbud design like the Apple AirPods 3, but they sit more firmly in my ears. Thanks to the balanced sound reproduction, music and podcasts sounds clear in calm surroundings. Unfortunately, the earbuds don't have noise canceling like the AirPods 4 Active Noise Cancellation and AirPods Pro 2. This means I can't hear my music as well in busy surroundings. First impression of the Apple AirPods 4
The Apple AirPods 4 come in a small box. In addition to the earbuds, I also find a warranty card in the box. Apple doesn't include a USB-C charging cable with the AirPods 4. Do you want to charge the earbuds and don't have this cable yet? It's important you buy it separately.
Balanced sound
In a quiet environment, the audio of the Apple AirPods 4 sounds balanced. The treble, mids, and bass all sound good. That way, music styles like pop music sound clear. I do miss the intensity of the bass reproduction that I want to hear when I listen to rock or electronic music. Music also sounds less balanced in a busy environment. That's because the earbuds don't have noise canceling. With the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 Active Noise Cancellation, music sounds more clear and I hear more detail.
Decent wearing comfort
Thanks to the new design, the AirPods 4 fit more firmly in my ears than the AirPods 3. They don't fall out of my ears, for example. That's because the earbuds fit more firmly in my ears than the Apple AirPods 3. Personally, I think that in-ear earbuds have a higher wearing comfort thanks to the ear tips. They sit more firmly in my ears, so they don't fall out as easily. That's why the AirPods 4 with an earbud design are less comfortable in my ears than the AirPods Pro 2, for example.
'Find My' function works well
If I lose my AirPods, I can easily find them via the 'Find My' function. With this function, I can see where my AirPods are on a map in the app on my iPhone.

If you like the airy design of earbuds with balanced and clear sound, the Apple AirPods 4 are a good choice. Thanks to this sound reproduction, especially pop music sounds really good. Want to be fully immersed in the music with strong noise canceling and extra immersive bass and treble? Choose the AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods 4 Active Noise Cancellation.
